Wow man! nice looking set, no doubt. And its old!! I love old gear-vintage stuff is soo much cooler then new stuff ;)

Very nice.... I have a soft spot for 70's / 80's gear myself.

Thanks. I just found this shell pack at a local used gear shop.
Not too bad lookin' after a quick wipe down with the Winzer surface enhancer/protector!!
I plan to re-wrap these shells around mid December.
Heres the specs;
1983 Pearl MX 8ply all maple shells in #47 Blue Flash
*14x24" 10 lug virgin kick drum > Evans EQ4 kick batter / original stock reso.
10x14" rack tom > Evans EC1 coated batter/Genera resonant /Pearl 900 unilock arm
16x16" floor tom > Evans EC1 batter/Genera resonant
Pearl 900: straight cymbal stand, boom cymbal stand, HH stand,
snare drum stand.
Premier boom stand (replacing with Pearl 900)
Yamaha FP9310 Flying Dragon single pedal
Sabian:XS20 14" med hats, 10" splash (not shown)
Zildjian:K Custom 15" fast crash, A Custom 16" medium crash, Avedis 21" sweet ride
I agree with you on the "Maple Shell" tab..a little cheeseball, but it was the early 1980s and they could get away with it because there is something really special about 1980's Pearl MX/MLX/GLX/DX/DLX shells! You just don't find this brand of tone and power today!
Just so warm and powerful and LOUD!
I too have a real soft spot for Pearl's 70's-80's drums! This is just the beginning for me!

Wow those drums are sweet looking, maple shells tab or not ha. What are you going to wrap them with, same color of different?
Do you still have your gretch mods?

Thanks..The look of this kit matches it's awesome and powerful sound. There is just something about these aged Pearl maple shells that isn't apparent in more modern kits.
I am taking delivery of my newer Pearl Masters Custom MMX 4ply maple kit in a little less than a month and I am excited to hear the difference in tonal characteristics..so to answer your question? The Club Mods are history..they were decent drums, but unfortunately I had to let some other gear go to to be able to get these 2 kits.
I may leave them as they are..to keep them original.

nice kit. Love those sizes. How do you like those coated EC 1's? I've been thinking about trying some of those.

I love the EC1 coated heads on these maple shells! These batter heads with Genera resos are the perfect combination! I find the EC1s to have the open sound, attack, resonance, fat bottom and durability I was looking for. EC2s are just too stifling for my likes.
These EC1s have the perfect balance of attack and tone plus the durability!
Look Ma! No Moongels!!
Thanks for the kind words on my kit!
