Looks like a great investment in these times of financial turmoil GD......in fact, why wait for the bidding period to end. Open the wallet and fork out the 70K now......you'll be sorry you didn't!!!

You mean JR didn't use Yamaha on those records? [/end sarcasm]

The sad/funny thing is, if that sells at that price, it probably won't be purchased by a drummer.

That will get a new drummer started! More drums than my kit, But same kit that I have. Both the Year and Color! Mine is a seven piece.
I'll sell mine for $10,000! Only kidding! I'll never sell my Gretsch! To many personal memories!

Bob, if you can somehow work the initials 'JR' into your name, you'll increase the value of that beloved Gretsch by a whopping 60k!!! You could BUY memories with that sort of coin.

You can't buy memories my friend. I saved for two years to buy that kit. When I went to pick it up at the music store I was told that it was paid for. My father paid for it as a surprise.

I know mate....all in jest (excruciatingly boring at work today!!)

I can relate to the 'surprise' element. I will never part with my Luddy LM400 (1966) that my father gave me when I started to develop a real interest in his beloved instrument. It was his spare that kindly found its way into my posession and has been cherished ever since....much like your vintage Gretsch.

It's crazy that people have even bid th at much on it. I would never pay that much for a kit.

The "Free Shipping" thing is a bit of laugh. It better damn well be! Hell for that price you better over night it.

I hope you get brand new skins on these at this price. Otherwise you better add another 300$ to the final price.

I caught that too.

Heck, for that price, JR himself better hand deliver it, set it up, and give a drum lesson!

With my luck I would add $1, and would win. I don't have 25,000

Dave Black's kit hasn't sold yet, Correct? Will the 75 Gretsch be a record?

It'll probably eclipsed one day when, dare I say, Mr. Peart shuffles of this mortal coil.

Of course it's expensive, it's one of the (if not the only) kit of his he didn't completely destroy... how could one do that to drums?!

Does anyone know what the kit sold for at auction end?
Whoops! I found the page and I see that the reserve wasn't met. Better luck next time! The bids topped at about $30,000.
