Is that a snare?

For rock, I use a Remo Powerstroke 3 Coated over a Remo Emperor reso head. I spent literally 30 seconds tuning it and it sounds pretty decent considering I didn't really tune it perfectly.

That's kind of a subjective term, "strong". A lot of overtones, or short sutain, or dry and loud? Can you elaborate on that?

You could use anything from a coated emperor/G2 and put a moongel or two to muffle the sustain. That always works. Then tune your reso either higher or lower the the batter.

I'd go that way if I were you. a coated 2-ply un-muffled head will allow you to keep the snare versatile. Maybe later down the road you'll want to "open up" the sound and you easily remove the moongels.

I have a Pacific 7 piece Maple kit toms 8" 10" 12" 14" & 16" and Kick 22" snare is 10"
The stock head are Remo (china) and I wanted to change them. infact the resonant head is the same as the Batter.
I would like to know what Remo heads would you suggest. for Both batter and resonant

Emperors over clear Ambassadors, that's the most popular combo I think and sounds fantastic. Also check out Aquarian 2-plys over Classic Clears, they are cheap, and just as good. Order from a local drum store though if you can for the holidays :). Check out these ideas - http://www.aquariandrumheads.com/drumhead_tips/default.asp .
