Alright all you Studio bums. . . In your years of experience, what has been your all time favorite snare you have recorded with?. . . Ludwig Black Beauty has stolen my heart, who has yours?

I'm not really a "studio bum", but I just recorded a session with my 1967 Ludwig Acrolite, and it sounded amazing. That drum sounds just as good in the studio as it does on stage. I also got surprisingly good results in the studio with a 14x5.5 1957 WFL snare drum.

I like to do alot of studio work and I keep going back to my Pearl Chad Smith signature snare. Got a C&C maple shell and 32 ply wooden hoops snare on the way though, can't wait to lay that down on record. Later!

i recorded some tracks, and on every i used Slingerland Artist Radioking solid one ply maple, it is definition of snare sound, birch snare drums also are very usual snares in studios.

My favorite was the Dunnett Titanium!
My son’s favorite is an 80’s Tama Bell Brass.
We tested both along with his pearl masters maple and he chose the Tama.

My favorite sound an engineer captured was when I played with a Leedy & Ludwig 14"x10" marching snare. Such a depth of woodiness and a strong crack!

Usually, though, my fail-safe is my 14"x5.5" DW/Craviotto.
