Hey guys, been off the site for 6 months. It's nice to see everyone!
Anyone know some good double-time grooves that are more original than the regular ***BOOM CHIK BOOM CHIK BOOM CHIK BOOM CHIK***
I would use them mainly for gospel or bluegrass so any interesting ideas are welcome.
Thanks!

Listen to early Ray Charles... "I got a woman" and "Leave my woman alone". This is some of the best 'gospel' rock ever produced and the boom chuck is unique and swings.

Maybe 2 hits on the snare? Boom chick-a? (ghost the 2nd hit)

I've looked around the internet and found some different ideas. One double time groove involves playing single strokes on the snare but accenting 2 while playing the kick on 1. Another idea involves different bass rhythms: 1 & 2 & 1 a 2 & a.
I already use ghost drags but just looking for something...different. Thanks.

For anyone playing Arabic drums such as the Darbuka, try the Turkish Split Finger technique for double time playing. Its an awesome way of playing))
