I have both (2 BB's with Tubes, one BB with Imp).
I've never had a problem with the rods loosening with the Ludwig tube lugs.
Ludwig's tube lugs are nicer than the generic ones you can buy most anywhere too (IMO comparing side by side).
The sound between Imp/tubes are going to be basically the same--because you are going to tune the drum to what you want it to sound like anyway, so the lug style isn't going to make a difference (IMO).
I'd get a pic of the drum with Tubes and Imp lugs and see which you like better.
Which ever one grabs you and makes you go "ooooohhh", that's what you should get.
Tightscrews are great. The only time you need to do anything is when the head starts to really wear, or if you want to change the pitch higher or lower.
Like I said, I didn't have any problems with the tubes, but I did have a couple trouble receiver nuts on Imp lugs and they instantly solved the problem.
I threw some on the tube lug drums too, just because they worked so great.
Enjoy your drum!

Agreed.
It's all just asthetics. One does not perform better than the other, it's just about your choice of eye candy.
I have a BB and two Supra's, all with Imperial lugs. Whilst I do love the look tubes, for me it was more about Imperial being the more common here in Oz. Whatever floats your boat mate.....you can't go wrong. Great drum, great choice to buy one!!

Gaaaah! Everytime I log onto the gear section... I get the urge to buy a Ludwig snare!
(It's good to know I'm not the only one.)
PS This is how tube lugs look on my hammered bronze

I want one!!!!! I don't need another snare. Lord knows I don't need one..........but that is the covetous power of Ludwig snares.

Jeremy, WHY did you have to post that pic!!!
Aaaahhh....man.........
Just stop it, I'm trying to stay on track for a 10x14 tom, NOT another snare!!

Get the snare instead...then turn off the snare mechanism, close your eyes and pretend it's the 10x14 tom!

Urge to buy a new Ludwig snare too; me too! Especially the hammered bronze that you have. I have not seen this drum in person (only sound files) because in the Middle East this is not the type of item that is stocked in music stores. But I do like how they sound through my crappy computer speakers.
