Anyone using this series? If so, which do you recommend? Any reviews would be appreciated.

The turn it up lay it down series is very good. Check this site out http://www.drumfun.com/. You can find these in stores as well, also Amazon and ebay. In addition to these go to vicfirth.com and there they have more play along tracks. It's fun and it's great for your timing.

They are pretty good. I have some of the studio and big band music minus one and they are fairly challenging.

They are not like the Turn it Up series, which are basically looped chord progressions. The Music Minus One Series that I have are actual charts - intros, chorus, solo sections, etc...

I have an extensive selection of play-alongs. What style(s) are you looking for. Maybe I can recommend something.

Hi, I would like to practice a variety of funk, half-time shuffle, 12/8, 5/4, and 7/8 grooves and fills that I currently am working on with just a metronome. I am also working on some very basic jazz independence exercises so that would interest me as well. I have found a few things here and there from sites like Vic Firth and am really enjoying it. It helps me to play more musically and, although I am not using charts and working on sight reading skills, it allows me freedom to experiment with ideas of my own. It is also easier for me to work long periods of specific patterns without being as monotonous as working with the metronome can be.

Thanks for any advice,

Jiva
