View Full Version : Hollow Brushes!?!?!

Yeah, I have this pair of Regal Tip nylon brushes. When I was selecting them I was looking for wooden handles with nylon bristles (none in shop) so I went with one that had nylon bristles, aluminium shaft and a plastic sleeve over the aluminium tube.

They were extraordinarily light and not comfortable (the center of balance was too far towards the brushes side), not good for trying to gain sticking speed. I pulled away the rubber caps on the butt of the tube and discovered it to be hollow. Wooden handles would definitely have been better so I went for a cheaper option...

...so I had to add some weight...

...so decided to use skewer sticks that were in the kitchen (like the ones for shish kebabs)...

I found out that 8 sticks for one tube would fit.

I put the sticks into the tube and noticed that they were a bit long...I just cut them to fit with some scissors and place them in the tube, and pop the cap back on. (this part took the longest...the scissors couldn't cut through a whole bundle of 8 sticks at once, it was done one-by-one).

(repeat this step for the next tube).

...AND LO! My brushes have enough weight to feel balanced in my hands and now they bounce back effectively.
