Although a slightly predictable response from me, I was disappointed that Gruntersdad's flesh fest didn't get a placing. As a flip side to this, I think my avatar should be in the top 10 crap avatar's section. A picture of your own drum kit. I mean, come on, how sad is that! Thanks for the post sirwill. You've given me the kick up the %$£ I needed to spur me on to get a replacement avatar.

There, done it. That's better!

Do I get any cred whatsoever for the fact that there are trees and a river behind my drums?

Ha! Thanks! It fits, I have no idea how to shut up or keep my thoughts to myself. The colors match the forum, too.

I like Polly's honorable mentions - all great. KIS has a great new one, too!

I was always partial to Therma Lobstadore's "Ren & Stimpy" avatar. His name is my favorite on here, too.

Yes, of course you do! My picture / avatar was just plain lazy and lacking imagination. Yours is almost poetic in an arty sort of way. I'd go as far as to say "romantic". Whoops, I may have just advocated drum love!

There are some nice greyscale avatars around too:

http://www.drummerworld.com/forums/image.php?u=14444&dateline=1253762132 - Yamahammer - I never quite made sense of this but it's striking. A bad hair day? :)

And I dare you guys to have an avatar with you in tight leather rockstar pants with the obligatory goodies from the greengrocer (or gym socks). But on this forum we (ie. most of us) love each other for our minds, not our bodies :)

Damn, I just scrolled down to see if I'd missed anything and almost swatted my screen as I passed my last post!

Anyone know why my "Photobucket" pics wont post?.
I'm pretty sure I am typing the long URLs in correctly and I've tried different pics, tried to re size them...etc. All I keep getting is "Invalid URL" !.
I dont have 'Microsoft Word". Is that why ?.
Does my "Drummerworld" account not allow it ?.
This shouldnt be this difficult !.

I hope the females here on the forum aren't offended. My avatar is really my new soon-to-be-ex-wife. We've known each other for years, so no, I didn't find a random girl shot and put it up. She's an actual person to me!

The "soon to be ex" honoured via an Avatar on Drummerworld.....that's a new one Bo. Normally such pics are subject to a ceremonial burning aren't they?

Well, the soon-to-be-ex part isn't up to me. That girl is a man magnet. I'm lucky to have lunch with her every other half-year or so....

try saving the image to your computer then upload using the Browse button... its small enough so it should be OK.maybe this site blocks photobucket or something.

Thanks Fuo, but I have downloaded all my images into my computer but I cant find them to upload them. I looked in my pictures and documents sections, and still nothing. Even if I did find them, I probably couldnt figure out how to load from there to here.
I need some pretty detailed instructions. Im kinda of a computer Newb to a degree.

I can't give EXACT instructions 'cause I dont' know what browser or OS you're using...

I'm on Windows/Firefox, so I'd do:

- Right click the image (like in your post above).
- Click Save Image As...
- Change to a directory/folder that you'll remember (like My Documents\My Pictures), then hit Save.
- Click the User CP link in drummerworld.
- Goto Edit Profile Image.
- Hit the Browse button (under "Option 2")
- Change to the folder you saved the image to
- Double click the image
- Hit the Save Changes button

I open the image on a seperate tab. Then minimise so that the second tab is smaller than the screen (this allows you to see both DW and your image). Once you're into "edit avatar" on DW, you'll see a little image box. Bring up the minimised screen with your image, click and drag across to the box. Press save it it should work.

Apols for my explaination mate. I am a computer muppet.

If you enter the forum you have sections like "Drummers" "General Discussion" . there you click and then you see "new thread" above left - means you can make there a new thread in this section.
