Here's a very well paced melodic/rhythmic masterpiece from one of great jazz masters to get you started:

oh yeah! i didn't get aydee's cryptic response until i remembered that there are a bunch of classic drum solos posted on this very web site, outside of the forum in the drum solos section:

http://www.drummerworld.com/drummersolo.html

you'll have to figure out which ones are "jazz" solos, but there are definitely some in there. unlike youtube, these are all guaranteed to be good.

No Buddy Rich ?? . . . Know Buddy . . People are Buddied out. You gotta start with West Side Story Medley and Channel One Suite.

Topsy with Cozy Cole

Gene Krupa, Sing Sing Sing.

Art Blakey Mosaic, title track album same name.

Tony Williams Agitation from Miles Davis Quintet ESP

Inner Urge, Joe Henderson, album of the same name Elvin Jones. Elvin is also On A Love Supreme, with John Coltrane.

Here's Mel Lewis

great stuff, two classic drum sets, the Gretsch Yellow and the Fibes clear. They were just a trio: drums, violin and bass, not something you see everyday.

The SC Trio will be here in a few weeks with Hiromi and Lenny White. Should be a good one. Sc and LW have been touring with Chick, no Al. Supposedly he wanted more money. They did a concert at the Hollywood Bowl with Bill Connors and a bunch of guest including Stevie Wonder. Wish I were there.

You're most welcome Mook. I was FLOORED when I came across it........

Speaking of Tony here's some more great solo footage from 89 with his quintet. His doubles sound like a cascading tropical rainforest waterfall in the beginning... amazing!

Does anybody realize we missed Buddy's Birthday, 9-30-17? We celebrated by raking him over the coals. I truly think he would not have minded that and would have probably gotten a kick out of it. a lot of defense . . a lot of criticism . . a lot of celebrating.
