does the 2nd beater go on the inside or the outside of hi-hat pedal?

Most drummers have it on the inside, but there are no rules. I have mine on the inside now, but I had it on the outside for a while, and it worked great. It allows for the hihat to be positioned much closer to the snare. See this picture for how I did it:

Like the previous poster said, If you have smaller hi hats (ala Billy Ward) it makes sense to have the pedal outside of the hats

That's the set-up I would prefer. But I keep talking myself out of getting one.
