Hey, I'm new here, although I have been lurking for quite a while. Check out my newest video...

Thats some pretty cool playing. I use that same foot pattern for a funky latin half time feel in a song my band does.

keep it simple

That's impressive left foot work and some good sticking skills to go with it. Too much hard work for me to work on that so I'm going to have a coffee and pretend I never watched your video.

Very cool man! Nice chops, nice groove and nice coordination going on. I loved it!

Where are you from?

Thanks guys! I'm from Abbotsford, which is an hour away from Vancouver, BC, Canada.
I was able to record it so clearly by putting the left and right outputs into the inputs on a tascam 122 interface, and recorded in cubase.
At the moment I'm trying to get it running through BFD2, which sounds eeeeeexcellent, but it won't record my performace correctly, it just sounds like a weird free-jazz drum odyssey when I play it back. Lame..

cant really give any constructive critisim because i'm not too familiar with double bass.

nice stick patterns, but i'm a fan of funk and jazz, even though this isn't what you were trying to do, i would have liked to see some groove (i know there was some at the end)....and i would love to hear you on an acoustic kit.

all the best

Hey bro, that was great! Independence or "interdependence" is what I'm all about, and that was a great example of it right there. As Bosphorus said, I'd really love to hear you play on an acoustic kit. Electric kits just sound empty to me...no soul. I guarantee your playing would come alive even more on an acoustic set up. Keep up the great work man! Looking forward to some more vids!

Why do jazz guys always post on threads with someone using double kick saying "I would love to hear you play jazz" or "Good but could use more groove/swing feel." It's not like all the metal and speed guys tell jazz players "I'd wish used more double bass" or "You should play some blast beats."
I'm just sayin. :)

Impressed with your limb separation, Sean. Well done.

What model is the kit?

I enjoyed that, most impressive. I've had a basic electronic kit for a few months (I have an acoustic kit of course) and you've given me a few pointers. Now get on a 'real' kit mate :)

i didn't say play more jazz, i said I play jazz! if you don't have groove, you don't have anything, and it is obvious from the video that this guy has some groove, and i would like to hear it.
and a lot of double bass guys don't comment on jazz videos because they don't have any constructive critisim on jazz, like me on this video

but everybody, EVERYBODY should have groove and a bit of funk...i would like to hear this independance in actual context, how bad is that? don't judge so quickly

Thanks for all the kind words...
I've already made another thread about it, so I'll just post the link here...there will be some videos shortly of me playing on an acoustic Casey Drums drum kit :)

For those who were curious, the kit in the video is a TD-9. I just use it for practice and teaching lessons on, I would MUCH prefer to use an acoustic kit more often, but sadly my landlords wouldn't be too happy :P
