Hi all. I'm about to purchase a usb interface to record with my yamaha dtxtreme 3 through midi. any suggestions?
No need for many channels etc, i'm more concerned about stuff like low-latency etc.

Thanks

You want a 2 channel USB interface such as:

Edirol UA 25EX
Tascam US-122
etc.

These have two inputs (jack and mic), midi in and out, separate phones vol control, monitor out and usb connections to the PC/mac.

They are very useful. You can then record as amidi tracks or audio tracks onto your PC/mac.

Both of those would work.

Well both of them have MIDI I/O, which is what you need. You'll probably also need some MIDI cables. A pair of preamps is handy if you wanted to set up a pair of mics to record a band practice or the like. Both of them look ok, but I can't say without first-hand experience. If you can, try to look for them in a shop and inspect the build quality. Build quality can be a decent indicator of the internals. Does that sound crazy to some people? Possibly - but in my experience it holds up. I've seen some TERRIBLE interfaces and they were all built very badly, and vice-versa.
