Haven't got around to this yet, so I may as well.

Real Name: Conor
Age: 16
How long been playing: I believe I sat behind a drum kit for the first time about 4-5 months back...haven't since.
Origin of user name: Long story, though the shorthand version would be that I used to go by the name of "Snake", this was too generic and after a few bannings a certain websites, I returned under different names, this one stuck, and I liked it.
Top 5 drummers: Not too sure. Travis Smith, Mike Portnoy, Chris Adler (here's where I start to forget names and just list bands), Machine Head, Killswitch Engage.
Make of drumkit: N/A
Make of cymbal: N/A
Where do you practice: In my mind.
Are you in a band/s: No.
Covers or originals: As for listening, I prefer originals though I like a few covers.
What style of music: All my favourite bands are metal/metalcore, but I'm *fairly* varied, I listen to power/death metal and prog rock, used to be a huge rap fan too.
Favourite take out food: Not much into take aways.
Country: England.
One really odd fact about yourself: Hmmm? If someone decides to take a jab at me, most of the time I escalate the joke even further till they regret saying it.
How did you start drumming: Haven't 'started' perse. Though I got interested once my taste in music started to change.

That should about do for anyone who cares.

I've been posting for a few weeks now but I don't think I ever introduced myself properly-

I live in New York City and started playing drums a little over 30 years ago but I haven't actually played for 30+ years.
Went at it pretty good for about 12 years or so and then got fed up with all the crap that goes with being in a band so I stopped for about 15 years.
Got back into a band around 2000 and that lasted maybe one year and aside from blues jams I haven't done much playing since.

Self-taught but I owe a debt of gratitude to all the drummers I listened to and saw perform.
Always played traditional grip. Don't read music. I like to think I was blessed with good ears which made up for any lack of formal training. I just played what I felt.

the best kit I had was a 9 piece copper finish Slingerland kit, partially pictured here-
http://www.electriceyes.us/nel_sinful635.html

favorite style of music to play was hard rock. you can get a taste of my style thru the years here-
http://www.electriceyes.us/mp3.html

I'm a huge fusion fan and have seen some of the best drummers in the world perform, including The Master, Buddy Rich.

early influences were Deep Purple, Black Sabbath, ELP, Grand Funk, etc

I can't single out one drummer as a favorite, I find that virtually impossible but here are some of my favorites-
Buddy Rich, Dennis Chambers, Dave Weckl, Neil Peart, Mike Portnoy, Steve Gadd, Dennis Bradford, Joe Franco, Lenny White, Leonard Haze,
John Bonham, Mick Tucker, Ian Paice, Simon Phillips, Jeff Porcaro, Bill Bruford, Mitch Mitchell, Rod Morgenstein, Tom Breicthlein, Billy Cobham,
Munetaka Higuchi (Loudness), Stefan Kaufman, Akira Jimbo, Steve Smith, etc

I'm also a bit of a guitar fanatic and some of my faves include-
Gary Moore, Jimi Hendrix. Robben Ford, Ritchie Blackmore, Steve Morse, Vinnie Moore,
Akira Takasaki, Wolf Hoffmann, Stevie Salas, etc

I like to listen to rock, jazz, fusion, some smooth jazz and blues mainly. I have no taste for rap/hip hop because musically there's nothing there for me.

I hate drum machines with an absolute passion but having said that I think they are OK for someone who uses them to help them compose.
I have a CD by a fairly well known and quite talented guitarist who I won't name who uses a drum machine to record his version of Rush's La Villa Stangiato.
I find that ridiculous and totally inexcusable. This guy has recorded with Dennis Chambers so I don't get it.

I have around 2000 store bought CD's in my collection along with about 1000 vinyl albums

Aside from drums and music my other passions are photography and computers.

I love going to concerts and have seen quite a few bands in my time. Check my MySpace blog
for a list of some of them. Supporting live music is crucial.

been happily married for 7 1/2 years and my wife and I met thru the Internet.
Yes, sometimes that does work out! : )

Basically, I'm impressed by most drummers :) My style is probably like a bad mix of Ringo, Jim Hodder and Bonzo.

Make of drumkit? I'm hiring them at the moment. I have plans that may or may not come to pass.

Make of cymbal? Formerly Paiste

Where do you practice? A friend's rehearsal studio

Are you in a band/s? Yes, but we just play in the studio for fun. Once the lineup's settled someone might get off their backside and find some gigs.

Covers or originals? Mostly 60s and 70s classics. When I was pretending to be serious I was only in originals bands.

What style of music? Rock, R'n'B, blues. A bit of funk. In the old days, eclectic rock.

One really odd fact about yourself? I have two toenails on each of my little toes.

How did you start drumming? I was just drawn to it, but a boy from school encouraged me.

Favourite take out food? Indian - navrattan korma

Country? Australia

Hello
This will be my first post. I have lurked around here for a while now, but thought it was time to introduce myself. I did the Q&A below.
I first became aware of this forum when I met Bernhard and Thomas at the DrumSmith pre-NAMM dinner last year. We sat together at a table and introduced our self's. My wife Lisa was working for Drummer World at the time selling advertising. Thomas was telling me about the forum and that I should check it out. I did lurk a bit at the time, but never posted.
More recently though, it was "Mendozart" that brought my attention back to this forum. He had posted some pictures of one of my kits in a thread about a restoration on a Ludwig Blue Oyster Pearl kit. I started checking out the rest of the site and decided to join in the fun.
I will post a few of my restoration projects, as that is where my passion is these days.
My focus has been 1970's Blaemire fiberglass kits, but more recently, I have been working on Ludwig, and a Blaemire/Ludwig hybrid.
Glad to be here....and I hope to be posting more soon.

one really odd fact about yourself ? I can't think of one really..
how did you start drumming? Well.. basically.. my older sister got me into rock when I was about five. I always loved it, so I started off learning the guitar. Which is pretty typical.
Then.. I was shit at guitar to be honest. Mind you I was a seven year old girl, lol. When I was about eight some guy up the road I heard was a drummer and my family knew him quite well. So my mum asked if I'd like a drum lesson with him. I said yes.
From the moment I stepped on his drum-kit and banged a few drums, learned my first beat etc, it was all I wanted to do. It still is. I then took a rock music course thing, really great experience. It got me even more into it, my first experience playing in a rock band was at nine and I loved it. So I carried on doing courses, playing in bands etc.
Today I'm in a band which I love more than anything, and I never want to leave it. Drums will always be my main focus in my career, I reckon.

How did you start drumming? A friend of mine called me up and told me he was jamming in a studio near by my house, he knew I'd be excited coz I've always been interested in music and drumming. I go over there, get in the room and I see this badass white Pearl kit just sitting there like a freaking beast, so after 30 minutes of just gazing at the drum set, amazed at the intensity and power of the drums, they take a break and the drummer hands me his drum sticks. So I get behind the kit, figured out which drum sounded like what then the guitarist was playing the intro to the song Ariels by System of a Down. So I was like "Oh yeah this is the part where it goes *Boom boom boom boomb boomb boomb boomb/PISH* then I just played the beat, just like that, so we just went at it through the whole song (That sounded dirty didnt it?) I was so excited at that point I didnt even notice the rest of the band members enter the room.

Question:
Are you a Sabian man, Zildjian man, or Paiste man?

Good Question, but we're not all men here. I'm a K. Zildjian woman. I do have a great A. Zildjian set of hi-hats, and an old ride cymbal that I adore. But I use my dark K. Zildjian and cool splash more. 1 sabian, so-so, Paistes are nice most of the time, but they're pricey, you know? I have one pretty raucous Wuhan - for special occasions. ;-)

OK, back to our previously scheduled drumming 24/7.....

top 5 drummers?
Not gonna start that one, the names are well known, I am very funned of Elvin Jones but I like most of the listed here, so I’ll give names who deserve more attention in my opinion: Brian Viglione (Dresden Dolls), Kris Duerinckx (my teacher and quite possibly belgium’s finest, in fact make that Be-Ne-Lux finest.), Dernado Coleman (son of Ornette, awesome swing-feel while achieving awesome speed)
I do can say Buddy Rich will never be my number 1: Great drummer but to big an ego. I can go on forever about this, don’t get me started.
make of drumkit?
Pearl BRX masterseries colorsetting “midnight fade” & Roland SPD-S. Iron Cobra double bass pedal.

one really odd fact about yourself?
Is there anyone else who thinks Dana Scully is hot? : - )
how did you start drumming?
Played music for quite some time before I started drumming but then I got behind a kit by accident and that was that. I practically stopped immediately playing the clarinet and started drumming. The love and amount of playing time only got more intense over the years. After evening classes @ Jazzstudio Antwerp I ended up 3 years ago with Kris Duerinckx.
*I now got a daytime job (money & security, you know…) but all of my free time is dedicated to music & drumming.
*I still take lessons,
*I weekly teach somme kiddo’s to play (separate, 1 hour lessons each) some of with advance amazingly,
*Got gigs with the groups I’m playing with and a month ago I got my first request to give a little drum demo – as I am (when time lets me) for hire for gigs, studio work,…
Aim is in time to quit daytime job and make a living out of drumming. But right now I’m happy that the money starts coming in – it’s not much, but it’s a very nice extra.

how did you start drumming? when i was in grade school, we had to play an instrument for at least one year. i wanted to play the drums, but my mom said they were to loud. so i "settled" on the sax (still enjoyed it). when i was 13 (still played the sax) i got my first guitar (yes i still play, yes i suck). at the tender young age of 15 i started playing bass (dont play any more, but i like to go to the music shop and d*ck around). the entire time this was going on i was messing with my homies drums, dreaming of the day i could play like a champion. basically thats the story. i have spent the past 20 years walking into the music shop with the intent to purchase, and i walk out because i dont want to hear the wife complain. well, two weeks ago, i picked up some sticks and a practice pad and went to town...i quickly realized the pad was great, but a snare was needed to really grasp what i was doing. so, i went out the sunday after christmas and picked up my first snare.

how did you start drumming? This is a quite funny point, I started drumming when I was in this heavy metal band and I was the singer, but in breaks and everytime our drummer was doing another thing, I ran down to sit behind the drumming kit and just make some noise. With time, they kicked me out from the band so I swore revenge and from then I decided to learn drums. But what I never thought was that I fell in love of drums in a so deep way that I can't stop thinking about them, definitely my true love and with time I came to be good on it, so my aim is to be an ultimate drummer.

top 5 drummers? I take my inspirtation from Steve Gadd and Vinnie Colaiuta. My friends Uncle showed them to me, and I take my own spin I guess on their playing style. I also like Jon Wysocki, from Staind. Mike Portnoy is good, but not the best. Aaron Gillespie, in my eyes, is also a talented drummer.

country? USA
how did you start drumming? It all started back to simple percussion in middle school. Eventually I played the whole set in one of our school performances, and after that I got my own =)

I just bought a new drum kit after not playing for many years. The army, undergraduate engineering school, material science graduate school and working full time did not leave much free time to do some of the things I enjoyed. You live a few times and you have to make the best of it. Just bought a new Gretsch Catalina Club Jazz set and some K's. When I was playing last there was only one cymbal company "Zildjian!" Paste had just started and I was not impressed with them at the time. However, I think they have come a long way since I first heard them. I had a set of keystone ludwigs that I kept patched together at the time.

I would be interested in any discussions on the physics of the drums or the construction of them being that I have a technical background.

A Stradivarius violin is a standard for being the best sounding violin. So many musical instrument makers seek to reproduce this sound and understand Acoustically what it is about the Stradivarius that makes it sound so good. I would be interested in understanding what makes a drum sound good. Is there a standard?

I have read about the bearing edges, and there is too much controversy in that area. I refer to the link below.

http://online.physics.uiuc.edu/courses/phys199pom/NSF_REU_Reports/2003_reu/Eric_Macaulay_Final_Paper.pdf

The link above shows some interesting work on the acoustics of the drum. Note: they mention the shells and the mounting to the shells as having an effect on the sound of the drum. Below is an interesting drum from the Whitney Company in where they try to solve this problem.

Hi drummers!

Chris Georgenes
41
Since I was 10.
I was in an original power rock/funk trio in the 90's and before each live performance, fans would often be heard shouting "BUST MY HEAD" in anticipation. It had a nice ring to it.

Drums: Yamaha Recording Customs (cherry).
Mostly Sabian, some Zildjian, 1 Paiste.
Currently in a Motown/classic rock cover/party band.
Favorite take out food? Ribs
USA
One really odd fact about yourself? Once jumped out of a perfectly good airplane at 11,000 feet.
how did you start drumming? With 2 sticks.
Oh...I bought my first album when I was 10 (Bruce Springsteen's Born to Run). Played to it with sticks on my mom's couch (didn't even own a practice pad at the time). Poked holes in the middle of frisbees, tied string through the holes and suspended them from the ceiling over the couch for my cymbals (ok I was weird but desperate for gear).

Just a bit more on my drum career:

I started playing drums at the age of 7. At that time I was learning concert snare but that soon evolved into drum kit at the age of 9 (thanks Ringo). I got my first kit at age 10 (Rogers) and got my first Ludwig at 15. I've been a Ludwig nut ever since and have several kits (including 8 complete Vistalite). Over the years I have played concert tympani, marched the trios in drum corps and played in several bands. I currently play bass guitar in the latest band and we are trying to get the originals on tape (I mean disc or whatever we call it now). Just the three of us but we're in the studio so tracks galore eh?

Thanks for taking the time to read if you got this far (if not then......I guess you would not be reading this last part) yet I ramble on...............................

Hello, I just registered on the forum. For some reason, up until now I haven't really been too active with immersing myself in the drum world. I've never posted on a drum forum like this, i've never subscribed to a drum magazine, I've never really done anything more with my drums other then travel around and play shows as well as my practicing of course. So I am trying to change that.

real name? Alexander Scott Allen
age? 20
how long been playing? 5 years
origin of user name? Its just another way of saying Alexander. I like it, and use it on my inter-web adventures.
top 5 drummers? I don't have a top 5 as much as I have a group of drummers that really inspires. Dave Turncrantz is on the list, as well as a few others, AJ Barret, he was the reason I started playing, and Fred Brown.
make of drumkit? I am playing with a PDP CX series bass drum, and a Ddrum ash pocket floor tom, rack tom, and snare.
make of cymbal? Zildjian A Custom 16 crash, Z custom 19 rock crash, very old (but still my favorite) B8 Sabian 20 ride, and Zildjian A Custom high-hats.
where do you practice? My house.
are you in a band/s? Yes, I believe said tasty jams are in my signature.
covers or originals? We do a couple different American Nightmare covers, as well as Fall Children by AFI.
what style of music? My band plays hardcore punk. I would say i am currently a hardcore punk drummer because its my current music of choice, but I also first learned Jazz when I started playing drums. Eventually, my plan is to mature away from hardcore punk and settle down into playing just Jazz. I don't foresee this happening until i'm around 30 at least tho. I love playing hardcore punk; I have so much freedom.
favourite take out food? Tough choice, I would say Indian, but I really haven't found good Indian take-out anywhere. So I would say Thai, Japanese, or Korean food.
country? Country? I live in the states.
one really odd fact about yourself? I am training to start playing tournament level squash.
how did you start drumming? Like I said, I would say I first started playing because of a guy named AJ Barret. He was in my brothers band at the time, I saw him play, he was real good, we got to know each other a little better, I had been wanting to get a drum set for years, and then the rest is history. AJ has since then progressed significantly, hes a Ddrum endorse now, I aspire to progress beyond him.

Greetings Fellow Drummers!

I'm Chris, a 23 year old drummer from Orlando, FL. I started at a young age, when my Dad bought me my first junior kit probably shortly after I started to walk and talk. After outgrowing my junior kit, I started hopping up on Dad's kit, making all kinds of noise that made my mother hate drums even more. In my teenage years, I was too busy partying to continue drumming, so I gave it up before I even really got started playing seriously. After a freak accident on Turkey Day of '05, I endured 4 long months of recovery at home and not long after the first few days home alone, I became bored senseless. When I visisted my Dad shortly after Christmas, he gave me a practice pad and drumsticks to cure my boredom, and soon after, I was addicted to drumming again. Today, with a little more know-how and a decent kit purchased back in March of '08, I am back on the drums and I am addicted. My kit is a 5 piece Pearl Forum Series complete with 14" B8 Hi hats, 16" Pro Sonix Crash, 18" Pro Studio Crash, 20" Pro Sonix Ride, and my newest addition, a Neil Peart Paragon 10" Splash all from Sabian. Soon, In due time, I will be tossing my B8 series cymbals out the window and upgrading to Sabian AA's. Although I am still an amateur, I am interested in joining a band that is interested in learning to play together and just have fun doing it. So, to all fellow drummers, rock hard, rock heavy, rock on!

Hi Fellow Drummers

My name is Rosemarie and I live in east London (United Kingdom). I only started drumming about 3 years ago and am still very much a novice. I practice on an Arbiter flats kit at home. I am 45 years "young" and wish that I started a long long time ago. I've always admired drummers because they have such amazing timing and skill. I would love to play in a band but I've never been involved in the music industry so have no idea where to start. My question to you experienced drummers who are playing in a band, what advice can you offer me please? How do I get my skills up? How do I go about looking for a band that I can develop my skills with? Is there such thing as drummers meetings/events?

I particularly like reggae music but am open to most kinds of music. Would love to meet up with other drummers to learn more and get involved in some way. I have worked as a secretary/P.A. for more than 20 years so am open to helping anyone out if required. I just want to immerse myself in the industry to learn how it all operates.

I look forward to hearing from you. By the way, if I've posted this in the wrong place then please let me know.

Best regards.

Rosemarie

one really odd fact about yourself?- I have an insane Alex Lifeson obsession. Funny how my favourite musician turns out to be a guitarist and not a drummer.

how did you start drumming?- I realized I was a really crappy pianist and composer, so I looked at what I could do. While my melodies do suck, I liked the rhythms. I was getting to know Neil Peart's sexy beats at the time so I decided I'd make a better percussionist than any instrument that sings.

Brundlefly
03-10-2009, 09:17 AM
real name: Julian

age: 42

how long been playing: Started when I was 12.

origin of user name: Toward the end of the movie The Fly, the computer refers to Jeff Goldblum's character as: Brundlefly.

top 5 drummers: Stewart Copeland, Gavin Harrison, Tim Alexander, JoJo Mayer, Dave Weckl and of course, Neil Peart.

make of drumkits: DW Collectors Maple VLT/X-Shell hybrid in custom finish and a Roland V-12/20 combo.

make of cymbals: I don't really subscribe to just one brand. I try everything possible and whatever sounds best is what I buy. That said, lately, I've been buying a lot of Paiste.

where do you practice: At home.

are you in a band: Currently, no. My day time gig takes up too much time for that, ATM.

what style of music: Mostly prog rock, but I like to practice lots of styles.

one really odd fact about yourself: I get paid to make blood, monsters and explosions. Seriously.

how did you start drumming: Grew up in a musical family. Farther and brothers played guitar and bass. When asked what I wanted to play, I remember always saying, "Drums!" My parents tried to dissuade me with other instruments until I reached Junior High, where I was allowed to pick my own elective courses at school. I decided to take Band Class and picked drums as my instrument so that my parents would be forced to support me. I got a Blue Ludwig Vistalite snare drum for Xmas that year. Wish I still had that drum.

Hey all,

My name is Brian and I am from the Charleston South Carolina area. Thanks for all the great info on this site. It has answered many questions and steered me in the right direction for quality gear. I am hoping to get some pictures of my new kit up today. I have been a drummer at heart for about 25 years but just now getting my first kit. I am loving it and have started a practice regimen so I hope to improve quickly. Thanks again and please keep the info flowing.....

The song "Toad".

top 5 drummers?
Ginger Baker primarily, arrrrg... hmmm... Mr. Bonham, Mr. Paice, Mr. Mitchell, Mr. Rich.

where do you practice?
In the basement. Luckily it's decent, though.

are you in a band/s?
No. Have been though, twice very briefly.

Have to say both, I guess.

what style of music?
Your various types of rock, some metal, a little oldies, a little 80's and whatever I like that I can handle. Cream, Jethro Tull, Alice Cooper, Judas Priest, KISS, Ted Nugent, Pat Benatar, Deep Purple, others etc. A little of each and heavy on the Cream.

favourite take out food?

country?
USA

one really odd fact about yourself?

how did you start drumming?
When I was a kid somehow I just kind of defaulted to drums, I'm not instinctively a "guitar man", always enjoyed the drums in songs on the records (I do play a mean air guitar though!). I used to play on cardboard boxes and sofas back in my teens, eventually my dad got me a used Slingerland 4 piece, champagne sparkle. Of course I was banished to the unheated cabin out back but hey, when you're 15 you don't care.

Boy, you guys' drummer tests are hard! *voice of Steve Martin in "The Jerk". :-)

P.S. I've been sneakin' around here for many moons, reading and reading. Thank you all for the WEALTH of KNOWLEDGE to be gleaned here. I figured the decent thing to do would be sign on.

The band teacher in 5th grade needed someone to play bass drum. I was reluctant to give up my tuba, but thankfully, I made the right decision and have been pounding the skins ever since. It's not too much of a stretch to say it saved my life.

Hi guys, (and girsl)! I'm new around here! I'm from Portugal, city of Leiria. I play the drums since the age of 16. Mostly in covers bands. Also had two or three original projects in the base of Metal/Hard/Alternative.

Hello! I'm New here. Been a long time viewer of the site. This is my secret handle so my girlfriend can't track me on Drummerworld. Long story...If I spend more time here than with here I'm in the doghouse!
I'm a drum collector and only buy the best cymbals. I've had custom cymbals made for me because I can't get what I want in the marketplace. I go for vintage and new cymbals from Turkey. I like the heavy Rock cymbals for my kit. I don't use my vintage K's. They are only for certain aplications plus they cost a ton so I keep them in a box for just when I need them. I love going to drum shows and flea markets to look for drum stuff. It's harder now due to Ebay and Craigslist. Glad to be here!

Hi all, I've decided that it was time for me to expand my knowledge on drums and percussion, so I decided to join a forum. This one looks like its a great place!

I am 19 years old and have finished my first year at college. My major is journalism and my minor is anthropology.

I am from Pittsburgh, PA and attend college in Clarion, PA.

I am a born and raised major Steelers and Penguins fan. So GO PENS! Game 7 tomorrow!

My setup is a PDP FS birch kit, sizes 10x8, 12x9, 14x12, 22x18. The snare is a 13x6 Tama maple, and I have a poplar 16x16 floor tom from my first kit. Heads are Evans EC2 Clear over G1 clears, and a Remo Emperor X on the snare over a Hazy 300. The bass is an EQ3 over an EMAD resonant. The cymbals are:

Zildjian 10" A Custom Splash
Zildjian 14" A 70s Hats (Almost like new beats, but darker and crisper, they're amazing)
Zildjian 17" A Rock Crash
Zildjian 18" A Rock Crash
Sabian 18" B8 Pro Crash
Zildjian 18" A Brilliant Chinaboy High
Zildjian 22" A Custom Ping Ride
Saluda 14" Voodoo China
Saluda 6" V-Bell

I recently won a single Axis AX-X pedal on ebay and am waiting for it in the mail. Maybe tomorrow!?!

This is my second kit and I have only been playing about 3 and a half years.

I mostly play a lot of classic rock and modern rock, but listen to one of the widest ranges of music imaginable. (Everything from Dvorak to Eminem to Ace of Base to Godsmack to Whitechapel)

Anyway thats me so I'll see yunz around the boards!

how did you start drumming?

I grew up listening to my Dad play classical music- but he was self taught- while for me and my brother he insisted that we both become professionally trained at the RCM- so I did up to Grade 8 piano and then was attracted to the powerful rhythms coming from the percussion studio just down the hall from where I would have my dreaded classical piano lessons.

I then went on to play percussion in a percussion ensemble for a few years- learning african style drumming, marimba, vibraphone, xylophone, timpani, concert snare, bongos and tons more percussion. Then I got into high school- and it seemed that the next smart move was to learn drum kit. I convinced my parents to buy me a lovely black Pearl drum kit- the kind you see in every rehearsal studio.

I never took formal lessons back then, but I have in recent years. But back then, it was all about jamming and playing live. I went to an arts high school, so performance ran in my blood and in the blood of my high school. There I learned about playing jazz on the drum kit... and playing rock and hip hop beats on the drum set... loud noisy all over the place rock drumming never appealed to me- I always admired drummers who hold back a lot, and play loud just a little.

I learned about playing with other musicians during high school- as I was in a crap load of bands. Every couple of months there were concerts- where dancers, musicians, artists and drama students put on their best- so I performed with any and every musician at my high school who needed a drummer. I didnt always dig the track- but I loved to perform.

Hey Drummerworld'ers.

In addition to the question and answer, I've written an extended 'about me' on my blog, in three parts. The first two I've posted here already, and here's the third (and final!) installment:

The Paradiddler, Origins - Finale (http://theparadiddler.com/2009/06/24/the-paradiddler-origins-part-3/)

If you missed them, you can link back to the other two parts from the article above. Anyway, my story on how I got started with drums. I hope you enjoy!

Well well well... here I go again...

Before I start, I'm going to introduce myself in a more casual way then everyone else. I don't like the idea of a standardized introduction layout. Apologies! :)

Anyway, I'm Anthony, 17, just out of school, male, born and bred in South Dublin, Ireland. Been drumming for about 10 months, and I can't get enough of it. I have a Roland Td-3kw compact series with Roland TD-3 brain module. I use Vater 7A's, great sticks in my opinion. Favourite style to play is jazz, then probably funk. I use music software also: Ableton Live 7, getting 8, Reason 4, Virtual DJ, getting Superior 2.

Oh, and I'm a very proud atheist who's always up for a friendly debate, only if it's welcomed of course...

Before I forget, I joined VDRUMS.COM, but I had my IP permanently banned, without warning, got being an atheist... turns out one of the mods was an extreme christian... I hope that there's none of that extremism here... and please don't let my username put you off... I won't bite...

Peace...
