View Full Version : groove on a Tamburo stave kit - vid
Here's a short vid from a performance in Italy. The drums are a stave kit from Tamburo (Opera) and the cymbals are Pasha.

Great looking kit and the cymbals sound superb, especially the hats. I don't think I've heard hats that crisp before. Ok, the room sound doesn't help and I suspect the recording is made with the video cam mic, but the kit sounds good for such a lively environment. The playing: great hand speed and obvious chops ability but the performance seemed "forced" or "urgent". I think something with more progression / structure and simplified fills would be better, but I'm always going to say that, I'm a simple guy!
I'd love to hear that kit recorded in a different environment & I'm going to look up Pasha cymbals. Good luck.

Thanks for listening. Here is a link that should fit your requiremnet: me playing a similar stave kit recorded in a much better environment, with more structure and simpler playing, as you mentioned would be better, so let me know if you like it!

dude, you are like a pro drummer; playing with Robbie Williams and all. Great video, great groove (the 2nd I mean). Love your sound.

Yeah Ami, that's great playing. I'm not that keen on the material but that's irrelevant. Lots of drummers would say you're just playing the "money beat" (I hate that term). I say you're playing exactly to the song. Driving beautifully yet leaving plenty of space for the percussion to add flavour. All the muso's are doing exactly what they're meant to be doing, & that's focussing the performance on the vocalists.
Anyhow, who am I to advise you. You're obviously a talented & well rounded player getting great work, and I'm an old has been rock player of limited repertoire back into playing for fun after a 20 year sabbatical from pro playing. I say congratulations on your acheivements and it's a pleasure to have such an accomplished player gracing this forum. KIS.

Ami, the clinic stuff was well done but didn't do a lot for me. The room sound didn't help.
But ... the Robbie Williams thing was great and you played it beautifully. Groove, sound, feel and taste absolutely spot on. I understand that you're a session drummer and after hearing that I expect you'd be picking up plenty of work. I'd hire you :)
