Hi everyone, I am starting to get interested in recording my practice sessions of myself and with my bands, so what are some good cheap ways that have worked for you. Also I dont need to put it in an mp3 file or anything like that, just a good one time listen thing.

just bought the zoom H2. Fantastic, easy to use, portable, good quality.
Records on mp3 or wav, but plays back too.
Well worth the money.
Good luck.

It seems the Zoom H2 and the Olympus LS10 are the 2 most popular mobile recording devices. I have the latter, cost me 399.00 USD plus tax. But it was the best investment in my playing since taking lessons. I'd go beyond recommending it and class it as a requirement, like a foot pedal, it's that important to your IMPROVEMENT as a drummer.

I second the recommendation of a Zoom H2 or even the newer model (H4?)

Great sound quality, easy to use and can handle pretty his SPLs.

Great idea. You can learn alot by listening back to your playing. The Zooms work well. If you don't have the cash right now for the recorder, you can use an inexpensive stereo mic into your computer with a free program such as Multitrack Studio Lite. I use both methods.
