This is my first video playing open handed style for most of it so watch out because the hiahat isn't on time for the first half but clears up.

A good effort but you really need to concentrate on your timing. Not just the hihat, but the whole thing. I think you need to practice simple grooves to a metronome. I always advise playing grooves very very slowly to improve timing. About 40 bpm or less. Playing very slowly is more difficult than you think but will help you a lot. Do you have a teacher? I think a teacher would help focus your efforts. Good luck in your drumming journey. Remember, nothing comes easy and nothing happens fast.

No, I don't have a teacher, other than my band instructer. Thanks for the advise
