hey guys my band has been working on aliens exist by blink 182 to play at one of my schools dances I'm having trouble with the beginning though my guitarist said that it doesn't sound right and I agreed but couldn't find anything on the subject I have the book but I'm still not sure. Any help would be great.

Todd would be an alien from our solar system, whereas Dave and Vinnie are from a galaxy far far away...

I'm going to try and describe this the best I can... the beginning intro sounds like

Floor tom + tom + bass drum triplet with a bass and snare

so like first beat is a triplet followed by a bass on the "and" and then snare on 2 (which goes triplet on 3 then bass on and and snare on 2)

if your counting 1 and 2

Here's how I play it:

BTF-B-S-BTF-B-S-BTF-B-S-BTF-B-S-

B = Bass drum
T = Tom
F = Floor tom
S = I think you can guess this one

And that's starting on the "4-and" count, sorry I don't know how to write out tab so it displays correctly. I recommend to start with this pattern: F-B-S-B-F-B-S-etc, and when you've got that down, throw in the extra sixteenth-note tom hit. You could also play the floor tom together with the snare, but that's up to you.
