Playing just yesterday to some Lamb of God track,
Left kick pedal snapped on me,inside the actual heel plate.
I'm using DW5000's and this happens to me.
So screwed.

You must really be whomping on it. I don't often heat DW5000s breaking often.

This is the same fella who had the incredible bass drum creep, he was putting sandbags on the drum and still moving it forward. I'd say we have a serious case of lead foot.
Dane - almost everyone has some level of bass drum creep until they figure out how to fix it. But with the extremes you've describe (including breaking a 5000) - something just doesn't seem to make sense here. Can you tell me what your leg motions are like? I have done some pretty serious stomping in my day, but dang.

Ouch! DW5000s are like the toughest pedals going. How you managed to break them, well you must have giant shins or something.

Well DW5000's have a history of pedal snap. They're not as well re-inforced as Iron Cobras and Eliminators, but they are still very durable and reliable pedals. To break a set requires either a serious factory flaw or (more likely in this case) a serious case of lead-foot. I really think you ought to examine your so-called 'technique'. After a certain power, the drums don't get any louder, they just get choked.

I use one, by the way. I just don't play it like a gorilla. This is musical instruments we're talking about, not psychological release.
Meanwhile, why not take the opportunity to learn how the play the second-best instrument on the kit--the hihat?

I've heard of plenty of 5000s snapping, plus I've seen a replacement 5000 pedal board at a drum shop before if that tells you anything.

DW pedals always break. In the shop where I teach we always get DW pedals in for repair. Over any other. Iron Cobras are second.

Okay fine maybe they're not the toughest pedals you can possibly buy but then again they're not exactly flimsy either, it's just that anything can break if you stress it out hard enough. Also they're like one of my favourite bands too XD Not exactly "metal" though. Just goes to show i suppose...

i saw a thread on pearl drum forum once with a load of DW drum pedals snapped in half. I've never had any problems with them before. I use eliminators, and they can really take a thrashing

That's where the pic above comes from. Like I said, if you don't play like a gorilla you'll never break one.
I've had mine since they came out with the full base plate.
