Well to the point, how much should I rest? Should i stop for a few days, a week or just one day or should I practice everyday since the resting occurs in my sleep? I've been practicing in my pad everyday trying to be conscious of my finger control with a lot of patience, for a long time resting in between exercises and everything, and sometimes i feel I should rest for sometime since there's a point where i feel is hard to make progress, I just dont know how much
The thing is that Im afraid of resting cause I might lose technique. Mayybe Im doing something wrong. I feel like shit sometimes cause one day the technique is great but then ohter days I feel like I dont have technique at all, and that weak hand is just.... Is thaat a normal cycle? maybe I need a break, but im not sure about that.... can someone help me.
Another thing, Im not sleeping well. is that relevant?

I would just keep practicing regularly.. how do you know your not progressing? Are you using a metronome to keep track of your speeds? This is usually the best way to test yourself, and I definitely recommend it! If your not hurting or anything is abnormal there is no reason to rest. The only way to get better is to practice. Still don't overdue it. Everything requires a cool down session.. you just have to know your limits.

I often find it beneficial to take a day off here and there; let your parts recover and you often come back to the kit to find your playing improved, not worsened. Lately I've also been alternating practice routines, emphasizing hands one day, feet the next.
I wouldn't worry about losing technique by resting for a day, even two days.

I practice every day, but that is because I really enjoy it. Do what feels right for you. The more you play the more comfortable you'll become through the trial and error of experimentation and practice.

I fully agree with this strategy. It works great for me!

I agree with the last post. I was talking with some friends that play a lot and we agreed that some days you sit down and can't get it together - TIME TO REST! We also agreed that a fews days off will not affect your playing in a negative way. Of course these folks have been playing a loooooong time. Just don't hurt yourself - then you HAVE to rest. I think all here might agree that what sucks most is not being able to play when you are in the mood and really inspired to get something done.

Practice every day, but you don't need to practice the same things everyday. For example, when I first started, my teacher insisted I only work on speed every third day.At the time speed was all I wanted to work on. I'm not sure I would have done this if my parents hadn't also known every third day. Probably not.
If technique is giving you any problems or concerns that's the time for a teacher.
