Looking for a good electric kit under 1000 dollars. the problem im running into is that most kits dont have a third cymbal i.e. 3 cymbals and a hh. the only kit i have found was the simmons sd9x..is this a good kit, or would i be more impressed with a roland of equal value? looking to do some recording with this kit, and would like a little extra variety by having one more cymbal. i know i can program the zones on the cymbals to get more.
thanks!!!

You can check out all e-drums brands here:

The best option for you would be Roland HD-1

Get a used Roland TD-9S. It comes with hi-hat and 2 cymbals, but the brain has (2) additional inputs available. A brand new TD9S can be had for $1300 delivered so I'm sure you can find a used one under $1K and then add an extra cymbal.

If you want realy realy good electric kit then it costs more dollars then 1000 but not so much as Roland td20.
Toy is called 2Box drumit five, i read only amazing experience with this drumkit that is new on the market.

I'm not sure if I'm pointing out the obvious but electric kits always depend on the budget. Yamaha is best for lower budget and Roland with the higher stuff. Roland kits are amazing. I think as soon as you get to mid-range there should be no question to buying a Roland. I'm so desperate for one... I smashed my Yamaha to pieces.

Just got an update on the 2BOX (now in three boxes!). Hard to believe, but two years later and still no US Distibutor:

Actually I disagree with your statement on higher end kits (only being Roland)....Yamaha's new DTX900 series kit is easily as good as Roland's best and also a good bit more reasonable..
