Hello all I hope this is the right place for this thread but here we go...
I'm having a HUGE problem playing 3 eighth notes on the bass drum back to back quickly.. to be more specific there's a part in the song monkey wrench by the foo fighters where you play this (I'm just going to write it down like the score shows) :
Bass bass snare bass bass bass snare bass (and that is one measure)
The problem is that with the bass notes, I just CAN'T play them to where its on count because I'll hit the first two bass then my foot will just not hit the third. I really don't know what the problem is .. I just can't hit it 3 times in a row without my foot hitting the pedal to where it makes a clear bass hit it'll just sound like I hit it with like half force if that makes sense.
Well I hope you guys can help me with this problem because I am getting insanely frustrated to the point where I'm starting to not even wanting to get near the drum kit :(

practice doing even eighth notes in a row over n over, you simply have LOC
lack of chops, easy fix, although you could have a horrible pedal.

How can I fix a lack of chops?
By the way I have a gibraltar pedal

Do it slowly, and gradually build up the speed to the song tempo. It's the only way.

kind of a surprising answer... never expected that one has to practice an instrument. O.o

i would suggest buying a metronome if you havent already got one. set it to a speed where the quarter notes are slow enough so you can play 2 bass notes per click. then play the beat you are trying to get comfortable really slow. aim to stay feeling relaxed on the physical side and use your ears to help make the beat as flowing and smooth as you can.
gradually raise the bpm by say 4 or 5 marks after you play a tempo you feel you can play well for a few minutes without stopping.(if you raise the beats per minute and suddenly the groove doesnt sound right, you've gone too fast too soon, though only for now. it would just mean you need some more time before moving up.)
somewhere between 40-60bpm range might be a good start. jjmason777 is right with speed being gradual, obtaining it will take time, like its taken all of us.
don't get frustrated, you will acheive this. don't doubt yourself, everyone goes through challenging moments with material, gigs, co ordination, speed, whatever.
stay calm and try to keep focused. something like this is gradual so you can work on it for awhile then be free to change to work on something else and return to it later. the patience you learn gaining this new speed will help you in whatever you learn next and throughout your playing.
