Chapin wins.

When you've done it, burn both books and get outdoors.

By, "the Chapin book," you mean Advanced Techniques for the Modern Drummer, right? Jazz requires a different kind of limb coordination than rock does, and this book will give you a feel for how to play in that style. Even though it was first published in the late
40's, it's still a valid learning tool today.

I have to ask: What are you doing buying books without looking through them a bit?

He said he did look through them and they both look similar to him.

Why buy two books you think look the same? (they're not, but I'm just curious on the thought process)
