Wow, that set looks incredible! Super classy! I've wanted a set of my own RC's for a very long time. That 18 inch floor tom must sound like thunder, too.

My college has an old Recording custom but it's in such sad shape with worn out Clear Ambassadors and like an entire Hotel Laundry room in the bass. I would love to fix it up though.

Re: lets see some yamaha recording custom kits
Hi, I was wondering how you came up with your Serial Number?

For instance on your first tom what numbers are on the badge?

Probably TT908RA----????

Thanks!

20th Anniversary, there's another rack but I chose 3 toms for this session... Eric Johnson, "Fatdaddy" on the Up Close album... check it out! Love these drums...

That I can do ..............................................Wow, one with a full reso head. That seems unusual! I know Doggie's sound great though.

Sold these awhile back to finance another deal-I had purchased these from a Yamah Endorser here in Toronto. Apple sparkle fade laquer with clear interiors and Yamaha aluminum diecast hoops.

Here's a few shots of my 1980's Recording Customs. I've been debating on getting them refinished in White Lacquer, but I heard it could effect the value of the kit. Just some of the drums have yellowed a bit more then others in the kit. The sizes of my kit are

2x 24x16 kicks
14x10 ride tom
16x16 floor tom
18x16 floor tom

I bought this kit used and cleaned it up. I completely stripped off all the hardware and polished it and the shells. I bought a few replacement pieces of hardware and completely recovered all drums with new Remo heads top and bottom. The two Yamaha logo reso heads on the front of my kicks are original 1980's Yamaha logo heads which where brand new setting in boxes in a drum shop in Memphis. I've owned Yamaha Beech Custom Absolutes before and thought those drums where awesome, well that is until I played these. This kit sounds so badass and it's very powerful. I don't foresee myself parting ways with this kit ever.
