I recently bought a kit with 5 toms - 3 rack toms and 2 floor toms.
I've found I rarely hit the biggest floor tom - 16 inches - during gigging.
So it's a waste of effort/space humping it along to gigs.
Has anyone shifted their floor tom over next to the hats - like a lot of players seemed to do in the 90s?
What are the rythymic possibilities and would you recommend it?
