Hey, all... New to the forums. I was wondering if anyone has noticed a difference in durability between the main drum head manufacturers. Right now I'm debating putting on Evans EC2's or Remo Powerstroke 3's... I believe they are about the same as far as range function, price, etc.

I am playing on a Tama Rockstar and am looking to deepen the sound of my toms and eliminate a lot of overtones. I like a little bit of resonance, but a quick fade.

Thanks!

Welcome to the forum bigpapabds

For the sound you described, I'd say the EC2's would work better.

G1's might be what are on the bottom of you drums. The EC2/G1 combo will warm up, and beef up the sound without adding a longer tone too.
Evans heads overall have a slightly warmer/beefier tome to them vs. the same 'type' of Remo head (even though I play Remo).

Durability depends on how you play them in any head/brand. Different people have different problems with any head maker (as you'll see going through threads!).

Good luck.
