Did I make the right decision?

I went to my local drum store the other day with the intentions of getting new heads. I recently purchased a Gretsch Catalina Maple (in fusion sizes 10, 12, 14, 16) and was looking for a good sound for classic and hard rock. Many people recommended Evans G2's as batters so I asked for them and he said that he didnt have any of those but he did have Remo Coated Emperors so he gave me them instead (also I grabbed a Coated Ambassador for snare). My question is will the Emperors have a different sound than the Coated G2's or will it be generally the same. I am just worried that I may have dumped $100 on the wrong heads.

They're both the same head, 2ply coated so they should give you that dry, lifeless sound you're looking for ;)

They will have less overtones than the G2 but will still sound great for Rock. I believe the Evans heads would have lasted longer but don't fret, The coated Emperors will serve you well.
