Wow 18" hats, they sound pretty good too. Nice drumming; although its not exactly my style I still thought you had nice groove and sense of timing. Good job!

You were really gettin there dude! Interesting tune to choose. What made you pick that tune? Nice kit! I love it! You need to make your fills a bit smother. Open the hats a bit more during the grove. Your left hand was a bit tight on the grip. Grove was good and timing was good. The cymbals were hard to hear on the recording. The video was excellent! HI DEF! I'm just bouncing random comments all over the place. Hope that they make sense. Great Job Man!

uhh idk i really liked this tune. it's great. why do you ask?
thanks!! thanks for the criticism! but yeah the hats are 18" so it takes more effort to open them more. don;t kow what I'm getting at lol. yeah some things were hard to hear. but with one overhead mic i'd say it sounds pretty good.

I liked the tune that you chose also. I was just surprised that you liked it. Most younger drummers are into metal these days. I made me feel good that you are into that kind of stuff.
18" hats are gigantic! I see what you mean about having to work more to open them. LOL! I got your joke! The largest hats that I ever played were Paiste Sound Edge 15". I played them for many years. Now I play 13" K Custom hybrids. The 15's are to big and loud for the small clubs and the low volume levels that I play at now.
I was surprised that the overhead mic didn't pick up the cymbals more. When I use an overhead condenser mic, my rides are really loud. Is it a dynamic mic?
I like the color of those drums. I also notice that you like your drums and cymbals positioned perfectly flat. I have tried that set up several times over the years and I always wound up tilting things again! LOL! I guess that I'm just meant to be on an angle! Great that you can play so well that way.

yeah that's exactly why I'm not in a band right now, besides high school jazz ensemble. everyone my age plays metal.
I couldn't imagine playing 15 hats, yet alone 13"s haha.
uhh idk what a dynamic mic is. lol.
yeah the finish is sweet. and the flat setup is cool. i like it. although I just angled my rack tom slightly. much better!

Quote: groovydrummer616; uhh idk what a dynamic mic is. lol.
Dynamic mics are mics that don't have a preamp inside of them and they don't require phantom power to operate. Condenser mics have a tiny preamp inside and they tend to pick up higher sounds better. Condenser mics are delicate and you must never drop them. A dynamic mike can be thrown off of a building and it will still work. Condenser mics are almost always preferred as overheads.
