Very Simple Electronics

I was recently looking to add just a single drum trigger to my acoustic drumset. Now I'm looking for something simple because I only want to have either a drop bass sound or another snare drum sound.
Can anyone recommend to me a good, but inexpensive module for something simple like this?

If there isn't a somewhat inexpensive one could I use my laptop to do this? If so, what kind of gear would i need?
