Tama hi-hat clutch slipping - help

The pedal on my hi-hat stand presses right down to the floor. I'm sure it didn't used to - when any slack was taken up, the pedal would stop, therefore keeping the hats closed tightly. I think something's wrong, but can't quite work out what...

I think something has happened in transit. The pedal swings round freely (maybe I don't fold it properly...?)

How can I fix this?

have you fiddled with the spring tension adjuster i did and it fell out and broke but i managed to fix it by basically taking it apart and putting the srpring assembly back in position
