hi people! im new to the forum and i have been playing drums for about a year and a half. i consider myself decent in the time that i have been playing. im looking for a new drum kit.

my first one isnt that good and its a bad begginer kit. i have zidjian zbt cymbals (14'' crash, 14'' hi-hats, 16'' crash and 20'' ride).

i have a bid dog double pedal and Gibraltar boom stands and a stock hi-hat stand with my crappy stagg beginer kit.

i have my eyes on a pdp 805 series in white on white or black on black with a 24'' bass drum maybe.

i want something that is pretty good for playing rock music and this is supposed to be a good set for that. i also like the way it looks and is suppossed to be good quality for the money.

any other suggestions of intermediate drum kits for around 500 - 700 pounds?

thanks.

Go used and get more for your money?

But also check out Pearl, Gretsch and Tama as well as the rest to be sure you know what you like. I had a PDP FS series birch and loved it for the money.

Rock on!

he's right y'know. I managed to get my kit which is an old mahogany/birch TAMA starclassic performer, a premier resonator floor tom and a santafe custom snare (same sort of price as a mapex black panther is new) for less than £700. You can do well for yourself if you know where to look used.

Old Pearl drum sets from the 80's and 90's such as the World and Export series actually sound really good. All you need are some pro-quality heads, and they're good to go! The same goes for Tama's old drums like the Artstar and Imperialstar.
