sticky cabasa

...sounds like a personal problem, I know, haha!

My LP cabasa seems like it's getting more difficult to play; the metal beads don't slide around as easily as it used to. Any ideas why, and how to remedy this? You'd think if it was simple wear, it would actually get smoother as time goes on... It does stay in a rehearsal space for long periods, so might it just be dust & skin oil?

I've never heard of that happening but I'll bet it's getting dirty. Unscrew it, take it apart and gently scrub the ribbed cylinder and bead chains with solvent. Dry it and put it all back together.

This is Drew. Drew says that as long as he wears this Magic Chinese Dragon Shirt his Cabasa never gets sticky! I believe him. I never wear a shirt like that and my Cabasa frequently gets sticky at gigs! Magic Chinese Dragon Shirt! Thats the secret!
