I am currently a bit fustrated with my current band. Until the end of the summer I am fortunate enough to have some studio time for next to nothing AND access to some really great musicians to record with. I'd like to put together some kind of "demo" disc of my playing in order to get around a bit and possibly join or form a new band. I mainly play rock and also stretch out to fusion/jazzy stuff.

I am not looking to say "look what I can do" with soloing and endless diddling, but more of a sample of what I can do "for" a band with a band.

Any suggestions?

Just my opinion, but I kind of like the "look what I can do" approach.

One of the coolest demo's I've heard, was done by I don't know who. What it was though was about 10+ ways to play the same song. The song was "Running just as fast I can" by the Dave Clark 5. There was a standard cover, disco version, thrash metal, death metal, hard rock, easy listening lounge, jazz, Ragae, an instrumental and more. Variety and versatility and the song is probably less then 2 and 1\2 minutes..
