Bill Bruford has done some fantastic flowing grooves like his broken cymbal parts in One More Red Nightmare and the timbale-like rimshot accents in Thela Hun Ginjeet where he sounds like a drummer plus percussionist by himself.
The Tubes had a song called Pimp and their drummer, Prairie Prince, plays this amazing sequence in the choruses that always knocks me out.
Let's not forget Ringo's tasty triplets in A Day in the Life and Come Together or Mitch Mitchell's dextrous 9/8 triplets in Manic Depression. Hmm, I just noticed that triplets are pretty popular :)
For sensitive and intricate noodling little beats with ghost notes with a solid pulse it's hard to go past Steve Gadd and Harvey Mason.
