i was just thinking how far ive come with drums.

i used to think anything that wasnt pearl was crap, absolute, worthless trash, and that ziljians were the ONLY cymbals, i thought sabians and other brands were worthless (they are NOT)

i remember 2 years ago, watching drummers on youtube and thinking they were FREAKING MAGICIANS, i remeber watching Derek Roddy play "faceless one" and afterwards having to pick my jaw up off the floor AND scrape my mindblown brains off the wall.

just recently i was remembering learning bouble bass, how much i SUCKED, i actually was freaking out, looking back on how long i took to learn this stuff, like how it took me 2 months to get JUST the bass cymbal snare cymbal beat down.

any one else have this happen?

I've been drumming for several years and I still don't think Pearl is all that great. I just haven't ever been truely impressed by their products (you Pearl people don't crucify me now). I have always loved Sabian cymbals from the get go. I was always told that Zildjians were overpriced and you payed for a name, not necessarily quality, which I now know isn't true.

But yeah I understand what you're saying man. I'm about 4 months into a drum resurgence after an almost 3 year hiatus and let me tell you, it feels like I'm back at step one. My chops, technique, everything has suffered greatly and its been a frustrating rebuilding process. Glad to hear you can look back and see how much you've improved. Thats always a great feeling. Keep on hittin' man!

yeah, i've seen him a bunch of times and i still have to pick my jaw up off the floor!

the more drummers you learn about the more you realize that there are a LOT of very talented people out there! it's humbling, but inspiring too.
