Can anyone recommend any YouTube videos for basic djembe technique and rhythms? I have no idea which ones are genuinely good and which ones are misleading. Thanks!

Post what you find, and I'll let you know. This is a good one, but the sound quality is pretty bad. Michael Markus is the real deal... Listen to his words. Very good teacher. This is a good primer on djembe.
