Hi all.
Just as a little project, I decided to create a few videos regarding finding rudiments in songs we like. This is one way to force myself to get better at technique, and maybe this might be something you all can enjoy and provide your input!
I've only created two videos till now, Here they are:
The Paradiddle In Action (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d2bffXrabSI)
Rudiments In Action - Single Stroke Roll and Single Stroke Four (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Xmg19AELI3w)
Let me know what you think!

If you want to learn rudiments at high speeds as fast as possible, while still maintaining the way it's "supposed" to sound, then check out www.sticktechnique.com
I have bought this book because it claimed to give me absolute control over everything I play on drums, and I believe that's the case! I have only mastered the paradiddle rudiments so far though. I still have to learn all the other rudiments at these speeds, but I say bring it on! Armed with the knowledge this book gives you, once you see the amazing results you can get with JUST ONE RUDIMENT, it will make you LOVE learning the rudiments!
Because I bought this book, I can play your favorite rudiment, the single paradiddle, as 16th notes at 220bpm, or 32nd notes at 110bpm, on a practice pad. But because I can do that on a PRACTICE PAD, I can carry on most of that speed onto the drumkit as well, because of course, practice pads give you more rebound. If you don't have a metronome, let me tell you something. THAT'S FAST AS HELL!!!! lol
I've only been playing drums since November of 2008, and bought the Stick Technique ebook maybe a month ago. I also recommend the Rock Drumming System, which I have also bought and finished. I will one day buy the Latin Drumming System, and then the Latin Drumming System, and much more. I want to be an all-around, absolutely awesome drummer, and don't want to waste any time getting there so you can tell I'm serious when I recommend something!!

SabeTudo,
Duly noted! Whatever we can do to improve our play, I'm all for it! I also have the Stick Technique book, but I haven't implemented it to the full yet. I do believe in what the author says, though - very much! Seems like you're doing a great job; keep it up!
If you have any videos of yourself playing, I'd love to see it!
Drum on!

Well, your enthusiasm is to be commended, however sometimes it;s necessary to back up claims with video evidence ;) paradiddles at 220 in 8 months is unlikely, and yet more unlikely that you can transfer that on to the kit so easily. It's generally easier to execute rudiments on a pad than the kit given the greater rebound. Also, if you're 'finishing' exercises books so quickly i'd recommend going back over them with a teacher to ensure you've fully absorbed the material.
Good vids paradiddler - the application of rudiments seems to be one of the great mysteries of the instrument, good work.

Haha. I got bored yesterday so I felt like telling people about that book. lol. Mr. McCarthy, I think, is from Australia, and my username, Sabe Tudo, is Portuguese for "know-it-all." I doubt a person from Australia would know Portuguese enough to know that =D Also, at first I didn't mean to make a link, but after a while I realized it was creating a link when I typed the website all the way out, so I guess I just didn't realize how I might be trying to sell everyone a product or something lol sorry about that.
By the way, jonescrusher, I am only 16 years old and haven't ever had a job yet, and I haven't even gotten my drivers license, or even learner's permit. All I do every day is pretty much get better at drums in any way possible, and the few products I have already bought have helped me greatly. When I said I can carry on most of that speed onto the drum kit, the keyword was "most." I can play single paradiddles across the drums randomly at speeds around 160-170bpm maximum as 16th notes. 220bpm 16ths was just the fastest I've ever done them on a PRACTICE PAD, which of course, was when I was fully warmed up and everything. I haven't tried to get to that speed again because I see no point in doing so. It took me only 2 weeks of practicing paradiddles 2 or 3 times every day to get that fast. But everybody might have their own way of practicing, and mine proved to be very effective for me. I finished the book after maybe 2 weeks to a month because that's all I'd do everyday, and I also went back and read it again 2 or 3 times. I don't have a drum teacher because I lack the money to have one, and because today's drumming products are so helpful! Because of THAT, I can learn much more at my own pace without wasting as much money :D
One more thing, about the "video evidence", my webcam was really cheap, so all you'd be able to see is me producing a blur of paradiddles, which might somehow lead you to think that I'm just doing a single stroke roll with accents. Also, the time at which it takes to learn something is different for every individual. I happen to be a very quick learner when I really want to learn something.
