...but I'm going to get to go to see the JONAS BROTHERS!!! I love them!! They are very talented for their age and easy on the eyes. haha.
If you're going to post negatively (which I'm sure is going to happen) about the Jonas Brothers, at least do it intelligently. Don't say "teh jonas bruthers sux." How would you like it if I said "milez daviz sux"? Not that I would because Miles Davis is very good.

What music do you typically listen to, like, is this usually what you're into? And I'm not being offensive when I ask this, I'm curious.

I listen to just about everything. classical, metal, punk, alternative, rock, pop, jazz, blues, funk. Rock, pop, metal, and alternative is what I listen mostly to. I'm not a big fan of country and rap/hip hop, but I can tolerate it in small doses.

I'm good at sarcasm but noooo way, I understand though, most people say that. Kanye West is an amazing man, so is Johnny Cash and Willie Nelson. People that I think everyone should have a bit of in them, haha, that's just my opinion though. I know everyone'll disagree with the Kanye West part, buuuut the Jonas Brother's, people are willing to shut them down because of how popular they are. I'm not a fan, buuut, they've played a role in this generation. Just like Hannah Montana who is spanning both tv aaand music like them jonas people.

You know. The funny thing is that I'm going to college at Belmont (music business major) in Nashville in the fall. That place oozes with country! Maybe I'll gain more appreciation for country while I'm there.

I'm not a big fan of the Jonas brothers...not at all actually but I'm not bashing on you or your music at all when i say this. it's just my honest opinion.
I don't like how they completely over did the pop in all the Beatles songs..like the ones in the target commercials, and don't rightly deserve being called the next Beatles when they lack the musical side of the fabulous 4 but have almost mastered the marketing side of the industry...the way i see it all in a whole is this bottom line:
They're better at marketing themselves than playing their instruments, and are giving more credit then what they deserve(in the music view of things). I wouldn't call them a legend but I'd call them entrepreneurs
but have fun at the concert if you enjoy their music.

but i think they have become nothing but machines, they've become disney power houses and the media is loving all of their christian goody-good ways. that i have no problem with being christian myself...i just don't like how they completely disney'd out all the beatles songs..like the ones in the target commericals, and don't rightly deserve being called the next beatles when they lack the musical side of the fabulous 4 but have almost mastered the marketing side of the industry...the way i see it all in a whole is this bottom line:

I respect your opinion about them, and I agree that they're not as good as the Beatles. I also appreciate their Christian views as I am a Christian as well.
Their mom, Denise, said in an interview that their record label is very controlling of their music even though they would love to play different music in addition to the pop/rock music they play.
However, they were not the ones who re-made the Beatles songs. I don't know who it was, but it was someone else.
Anyway, I respect your opinion.

Not trying to be mean but i'm just seriously asking a question.
Anyway i can't say i'm a huge fan of Jonas Brothers but i am glad that at least a lot of pop bands have started picking up the guitar again unlike in the late 90s when it was all just synths and crap like that. I must say i wouldn't mind seeing hannah montanna- and i don't mean at a music show either...

Just to be fair. I would go and see them in concert also. They have some good music and so it won't be like listening to a teenage local band that just picked up their instruments. People would prolly analyze me for saying that i would jump at the chance to go see avaril livene in concert. Everyone should have some music that they don't think they will like in their music collection.

I'm going to go see second hand serenade in the spring and i personally dislike their music. I don't think they live in their instruments as much as other bands or singers such as averal lavine, led zepp, Rush, Most techno songs. This can be heard in the music recordings and the feel they convey. I believe that if the brothers dropped their record label and kept their fans dispite that we could see some very good music coming out of them. Same with hannah montana, and same with (sigh) The backstreet boys and nsync

Wow what is it with these disney music kids and TTP out of asians?
I hope you have fun at the concert. I didn't really know anything about them and then I saw them on Saturday Night Live. The first song they had their (a) drummer behind a plexi screen and he had an awful time, poor guy. He even dropped his sticks at the end of the song.
For the second song, one of the Jonas brothers played drums. I have to say I was impressed. He just went for it and rocked that kit.
I Tivo'ed it and watched it about 5 times. He just nailed it and he sang verses and chorus too.

Yeah. Their drummer is Jack "Flawless" Lawless. I don't know why he had to be behind plexi glass because most bands on SNL don't. I felt sorry for him.
The Jonas that plays drums is Nick. He's the youngest (16) of the three, and he has type 1 diabetes.

Have fun at Jonas brothers. I don't really care for the product of the Disney Channel, after all, that's what these kind of bands are. To even mention them in the same sentence as the Beatles (or even Avril Lavigne) is absolutely absurd. The Beatles were the original boy-band of rock'n'roll, yes but there were boy bands of the day that were equally huge but fell by the wayside because their music was lame. The beatles stormed through the 60's and early 70's with dozens of chartbusters that were award winning and catchy. Pull any person off the street and i guarantee they are familiar with dozens of their tunes. The Beatles more importantly, just like genuine artists like Avril Lavigne wrote their own music while i bet 90% + of The Jonas Bro's music were written by Professional songwriters. Don't take it personally, but the JB's are just a package. They're big because of their looks and the legions of predominantly teen female fans would not be going to the concerts if they looked like the nerd posse from Superbad. Okay somebody had to say it and I said it. Please don't hate me, the Jonas Brothers do not suck, they are trained professionals doing what they do very well and that's perform poppy tunes that were written for them and also looking good doing it, but they're not artists.
but they're not artists.
Ouch. Dios you are right on the former, but regardless of the machine you gotta at least give them their due for putting themselves out there. They are artists; just not what you dig as "artistic". Watch the little one slam on is kit in the SNL appearance (second song) and you'll see what I mean. They're a little lame but they can play.

I didn't say they couldn't play. Troll through any high school with 5000 kids and you'll find a couple dozen that are just as proficient playing as those kids. When i was 11 years old i was playing Bonham, Ian Paice, Phil Collins, Keith Moon, etc. No child drummer impresses me short of 8 year old Jakob Armen or 12 year old Tony Roysters Jr.

I don't take offense at all, however; they do write their own music. They started out how most bands do: playing small club gigs where there's only 10 or so people so I doubt they could afford to hire professional songwriters. They were originally with Columbia Records, but they left Columbia and went to Hollywood Records. Hollywood allows them to write their own music as long as it's in the pop/rock genre and kid-friendly.
Here's a vid talking about how they write their songs: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a8WS_qlOK0c

Okay, let me put it another way. JB gets into a horrible car crash and suffer 3rd and 4th degree burns, horribly disfiguring their faces. They survive but are permently and grossly disfigured. They continue to write their best songs ever. Do their ticket sales go up or down?
Basically it boils down to jealousy. Am i jealous? Of course. I've put in ten times the efforts as these kids to achieve superstardom but their looks have rocketed them way past me. I ain't gonna try to deny it. But to those who go to see JB or Avril or Brittney Spears or Beyonce or whoever and deny that they like those performers primarily for their looks you're fooling yourselves. Would i like Avril's tunes if it was say, Jordin Sparks singing them? Definitely not.
For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world. And the world passeth away, and the lust thereof: but he that doeth the will of God abideth for ever.

You've got a point. It's always about looks and sex and stuff. To be fair though it's not even just pop music, i personally don't know of any female fronted metal bands that don't have a very nice looking singer. That's sort of the whole point. I remember in our old band the guitar player wanted to get rid of this girl who was a perfectly okay musician but he pointed out that we'd never get famous. As much as i disagree with that, he is right.
As for the beatles, no-one is saying they were the best musicians but that's been the case a lot of the times down the line. You can write some great songs without having huge musical ability or knowledge. It's a bit like a lot of modern art, it's not about how long it took someone to paint a picture or how detailed or realistic it looks, it's about the expression of it. Someone recently filled a box full of dry ice or something to that effect so that when you were inside this box you can't see anything more than a couple of feet in front of you. That didn't take tremendous artistic ability to come up with but he expressed himself in a very creative manner. Just like music.

You call this ( http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a_cXhBy78T4 ) Saturday morning cartoon music? The beginning sounds a little Beatles-esque.
Just curious about your opinion.
They skew too young and fluffy for me. Not my cup o tea. If I want "beatle-esque" I just listen to the Beatles.
I am just nonplussed with corporate boy bands, pop princesses, or the "tween" sound.
The teen bands I liked?
- The Beatles
- The who
- Def Leppard

DC I hope that you have a BLAST @ the concert, as for any comparisons to the Beatles...NOPE! I am listening to the Beatles right now and Jonas Bros NO WAY!!!! I do hope that you have a great time!!!!

I guess it turned out that way but I just wanted to tell everyone I could because I was so excited and...well...DW (outside of my family) is the only place I could. I don't have any friends right now. I used to, but, for some reason, my friends I had don't really care about me anymore. I texted one of my friends and she didn't text me back. She always texts back when someone texts her. Even my "friends" from church don't care about me. I'm not looking for pity. I'm going to college in August so I'm bound to make new friends, but I'm just explaining the deeper reason why I posted. We all go through times in our life when for whatever reason we feel alone against the world and friendless. It is what we do during these times that builds our character and defines and strengthens us! I have had many periods in my life like this. It will pass, I assure you. You will be better and stronger for it. You will resume some of your friendships that you feel are lost right now in the future. You will also nurture many new ones. Thank you for considering us at DW your friends. All of us here have drumming as our common bond. The glue that binds us. And Yes! We do care!
