Software

Hello people!
Im looking for a good software that is good for drum recording. I don't need high high end facilities , but i want compression , EQ , reverb etc etc. I have used Mixcraft but im not to fond of the way it works. Used Audacity but doesn't do it for me really.
Im on PC btw so can't use Logic , Protools or Garageband.
Could you reccomend something for me! :)

Just to be different. Sonar 8 is out now... and you can use Pro Tools for PC; but it's expensive and unless you want to spend £2,000; I wouldn't bother.

Audacity and Reaper are decent freeware programmes. Ardour might be available for PC now, but it definitely is for Debian-based Linux.

Ah cheers guys , yeah i might check out Cubase but from what i've heard its hard to get the hang of unless you have had experience with it in the past. Is this true?
MFD have you had any experience with Sonar 8 , would you reccomend it to someone who is by no means a 'pro' in this field?

I haven't used Sonar 8; just read reviews of it in a recent issue of Sound On Sound. It's quite involved and expensive - but from what I gather relatively easy to use. Treat the software as a means to accumulate knowledge. If you look at a DAW programme and are mildly terrified at first, that's absolutely fine. You learn through doing. It might take you a while (with any software) to work out how quite to record, but once you do - it just gets easier and easier.

I would be afraid to make a recommendation without knowing what you are no t happy with.
