Guys,
I have bought a Ford Smart Ass throne and am demoing it out. I will try to let you all know how good it really is in a future post, but so far, it may be the best throne I have ever had! As most of you realize, I don't really don't glibly recommend too much as far as gear; I pretty much tell it the way it is.

I have one and my hiney is happy. They could have just shipped it in a box. I have no need for the carrier and it is just taking up closet space, and it is too expensive to toss out. Mine is round with yellow pleats on the top and a black side band. It is a beauty behnd the gold sparkle Ludwigs. It replaced a Rocnsoc bike seat, which always made me feel like my legs were restricted.

Awesome!
Could you tell me how it feels in comparison to say, a pork pie throne?

Well, because the Ford throne is made from swedish memory foam, you don't sink straight to plywood like you do with a Pork Pie throne. I will give more info on this soon but my schedule is so hectic that I have to keep it short right now!

That sounds like a great idea, to use that Swedish memory foam. I wonder if I could buy just the seat and put it on my Roc-N-Soc Nitro - the best of both worlds.

My gut feeling would be yes you could but without seeing the seat and mount it has hard to say. I bought a Roc N Soc seat only for my existing throne and it's worked fine.

Well,
The jury is in and I have to say that the Ford Smart Ass throne is credited with saving my back. It is soft enough to be comfortable, yet supportive as well, without being too hard. While I realize these thrones are pricey and not everyone needs one of these, if you are having back trouble, you might want to look into one of these. I never want to have to have surgery on my back and acupuncture treatments add up as well! I got the round with a back rest. These are excellent and I intend to enjoy this one for many years to come!

I second the motion for memory foam, which BTW can easily be had a your local upholstery shop.
Take your crappy, Roc-N-Sock, Pork, Tama etc. right on down and get it re-stuffed with memory foam for le$$ than you think.

I would disagree that the higher end versions of the tops you listed are crappy!
