Hey all,
OK I thought I'd get brave and post some recordings of one of the bands I play in. We opened up for Deb Callahan, December 20th 2008, at Chaplins in Spring City, PA
I do the secondary vocal part on "Mastercharge", and the lead vocal on "I'm Ready/Hootchie Cootchie Man"
Be kind ha ha.

Hey, Spring City, not too far from my neck of the woods. Had a few late nights years ago in the Pumphouse, and still fish the Schuylkill River around that area. Recording quality was nice, better than I'm used to hearing from bands playing in bars. Nice slide guitar intro on "No Way Out", that guy can play. Your playing overall was solid, like the sound of your drums, and the fact that you play for the song and not overplay. I used to be guilty of that when I played out before, something I'm trying to eradicate now. Good job.

Hey Fishn, Yea Norristown, we're pretty close, I'm in Langhorne. Say have you ever been to the Rusty Nail (in Haverford) open mic blues jam every Thursday? It's real close to you and a great place to meet musicians

Yes, I've been there a few times, had a gig there with a band over 10 years ago, very familiar with it, grew up in Ardmore, right around the corner. I figure maybe sometime open mic nights may be a way to knock some of the rust off if I can swing by - I've been practicing every night on an electronic kit and saving for some used drums.

There's a new open mic just starting up in Roxborough, again on Thursdays. I'm pretty sure I will be attending this Thursday to "audition" for the owner, because our band wants to get booked there on the weekends. The place is called Holy Smoke Bar and Restaurant,
473 Leverington Avenue (off Ridge Avenue in Roxborough)
Philadelphia, PA 19128. Maybe I'll see you there this Thursday, and thanks for the comments on the songs.

Good band! I'm sure you guys would go down great at blues venues. You play Hoochie Coochie Man tighter than The Stones do hehehe
Love your drum sounds. You play with heaps of feel and taste.

A great recording and gig sound. I especially like the ring on the snare. I'd happily listen to you guys all night. Best gig post in a long time! Thanks for being brave.

Excellent performance! I loved the intro, and the light touch on the ride in One Way Out.
It would have made a great You Tube vid. Your singer is great also! Your snare sounds perfect!

Yeah, that was great. No wash - just really tasty sounds. Yeah, the whole band kicks donkey (I'm Australian, remember) *jealous*
I asked Larry via PM for the name of his band so I could label the MP3s (gone straight into my "Blues" folder and I'd rather not just name the files Larry's Band - Song Name) but so far no reply. Hopefully this public humiliation will work ;-)

Wow thanks guys for the props, it REALLY made my day!
The name of the band is (shudder) Blue Bizness
Hate the name. Love the band.
You guys just really made my day, and I am so very grateful for all my colleagues from all over the world
Thanks Bernhard for this great place you created!

Thanks for the info, Larry. The songs are now in my "Soul, RnB and blues" folder - between Betty Everett and a Bonnie Raitt/BB King duet - good company, eh?
Your singer's voice really reminds me of someone I've heard. At first I was thinking of the guy in The Fabulous Thunderbirds, but I don't think he's the one.
Whatever, not surprised you love the band - a sweet sound! As for the name, I guess you feel "Bizness" sounds a bit too much like work but it might be handy for picking up those well-paid corporate gigs :)
My band's called The Blue Mabels so it's blue too. Funny story how it came about but I won't tell it now of this will end up being another of my endless bla bla bla posts. Whatever "blue" suits most of what we play and probably suits some of our singer's stage stage patter as well :)
BTW, what cymbals were you using?
