I got hold of the wrong end of the stick(or bass pedal) Until reading some drum articles on line just now(stuck in bed with infection) I had been using what i thought was heel toe technique. But its not.
I play heels up, so for single strokes hit with my toe. and then for a double stroke hit the first with my toe and then drop my heel for the second--seems to work fine. anyone else do it this way??
also people say you need to have your heel on the board--it seems to work just as well with the heel on the heel plate, I dont think your heel hits, its the action of dropping the heel that makes your foot hit it again. (never realy analysed it, must look next time i am in the studio) DW do a heel extension kit to build the heel plate up to make it easier to do. dont know wether it makes it easier but it does mean i can sit an inch higher which helps with my drum layout.
