Hey all i'm new (to the forum and to drums)
I'm from Egypt
I'll have some pics of my kit up when i find the damn cable for my camera,
but its a Premier 5 piece Kit with zildjin Z series hihat,16' crash and 20' ride, and i recently got a 12' Paiste 101 splash and a double pedal because thats the type of music im hoping to start playing
I got my kit a couple of months back and since then ive got some basic beats down on my own and successfully covered a couple of ACDC songs (but theyre so BORING!), smells like teen spirit by Nirvana, Holiday by Green Day, and Walk by Pantera...
so any suggestions? Questions? Comments? I'm going to try to find a teacher and all but i'm in the middle of final exams atm so its gonna take a while
Thanks again!

Introductions go in the your place forum under the introduce yourself sticky.
Get yourself into some good drummers (ACDC's drumming is really not at all interesting) that do interesting things. Neil Peart, Keith Moon, Buddy Rich, etc just to brush the surface.

i agree, you will find your way around this forum very quickly...
phill rudd in his own profession is a great drummer. he does ac/dc alot of good
but hes too plain if you ask me.. but i still like the guy phill rudd is great to get started on
but as anne beeche said, you seriously want to check those drummers and possibly travis smith and mike portnoy if youre looking at playing double bass

Welcome to the world of drums. You made the right choice, as opposed to say....guitar! You would be wise to do as you said and hook up with a good teacher. Hangin with another drummer is a valuable experience. And if at all possible get more than one. We all have different takes on our instrument and what one doesn't covey to you the other may.
I ordered the DVD advertised on this forum called "Drum Rudiment System". It seems to be very good and learning your rudiments is the core foundation of all styles of drumming. I'm 44 years old and have been playing for 3/4's of my life, but getting back to the basics is always a great step. Always strive to get better. Good luck in your new endeavor.

Welcome. Please look around the forum a bit and you'll find what you need. DVD and book reviews and recommendations are in the Drum Technique section, Drums are discussed in the Drum section, cymbals in the Cymbal section, introductions are made in the Introduce Yourself thread, etc. And of course don't miss the main DrummerWorld site, the world's largest online resource of drumming information.
