I BET you had fun...How could you NOT! Good stuff. You're kind of hidden in the video, what equipment are you using? (I can guess on the brand of drum head!)

A cool story you might appreciate:
Recently, a bigwig Mapex distributor visited the local music shop where I get my stuff. He reported back to his peeps some good things he saw. A few days later, Vic Firth himself called the shop owner to thank him for carrying his products and having a display. Very nice, especially this day and age.
And this shop is a locally owned, small, quaint, working man's music shop. A blip on the industry's radar. But apparently Mr. Firth still checks his own radar.

Vic is a very hands-on owner. I truly enjoyed my time with him and the company and learned a lot from him. To give you an example of his day when I first started with the company: He would come into the office around 9 am to see what was planned for the day then he would depart for Symphony Hall for rehearsal with the Boston Symphony then he may teach a lesson at the New England Conservatory and then come back to the office to catch up on the days events or call a few retailers as you pointed out. Then he would finish his day by returning to Symphony Hall to perform.
Many of us got involved in the design of the products and he was open to listening and learning from everyone. Vic and I also liked to perform his timpani and drumset pieces together which we did on numerous occassions in different parts of the world. Like I said it was a great 9+ years and we remain good friends and communicate frequently.
The Mapex bigwig was probably their Vice President which is Joe Vasko. Joe worked with Vic and me as our director of marketing and sales for 6 years before he took the Mapex job. He is also a very committed.
