mix and match with e-kits?

hi!
at the moment i have a premier cabria xpk at my grandads and a electric kit at home.
but i am getting a new e-kit for x-mas because mine is on its last lims! lol
i know quiet alot about acoustic kits but not alot about e-kits!

i was just wondering... could you be able to buy a yamaha pad and put it on a roland brain and vice-versa?

i would really like to know if you can mixand match?
i would like to cos i am 11 and roland sets are a bit expensive for me!

so could you do it so a yamaha brain with roland and yamaha pads and vice-versa?
i have never seen anyone do this before but please post pictures if you have but theres is allways a first!
