I'm looking for written parts, charts and/or tabs for teaching
tricky, unexpected stops, & endings.

All types of music... rock, pop, funk, jazz, etc.

I'm trying to put together a complete collection for both...
- The normal tricky stops, & endings.
- The really tricky & unexpected stops, & endings.

I'm not looking for drum breaks... meaning clever/tricky fills...

I'm looking to collect a set of sample charts/tabs to show examples of...

Like this ...the band is charging ahead on a tune... then everyone abruptly stops for a beat... or the rest of the measure... or whatever... then picks it back up and keeps on going.

- often times these rest (sudden stops) occur on an odd beat or at an oddly/interestingly syncopated time... and add interest to an arrangement.

- I'm also collecting tricky endings.

- Please let me know if there is anything online... or in a method book...

- AND... feel free to contribute TAB right here in this thread...

Thanks for any help.

Closure by Opeth.

But I think it seems like the ending is cut so it sounds unexpected...

Katahdin, performed by Stuart Hamm, drums by Steve Smith

I'm not sure the ending is particularly tricky, but the thing about this song is that the guitar's melody lines often sound as if they should be played a beat off, that is, when the guitar starts the very first line, it sounds as if he is starting on beat one, when in fact, he is on beat four. Then the piece goes into a very cool 5/4, and there's just a lot of trickiness.

Also really fun to play along with.

This song (Plunger) by Umphrey's Mcgee is chock FULL of this kinda stuff (along with a lot of their other songs I've heard...)

Check it out, I don't have a tab, but it would be an interesting song to tab too! :)

Here's a live version:
