hey, I just noticed that my left leg has way more coordination than my right. Im right footed, and use just a regular single pedal, but my left leg seem to have more twich control, is more relaxed and feels lighter. Its a lot weaker than my right leg, but I can play much more complex beats with it. This of course is very annoying, ist there a way to get my right leg up to the same level? It feels heavier and I have to really concentrate on it to get it going.

HOLY HECK! i just counted 256 solid beats per minute on my left foot. my right foot couldnt even do that for a ten secconds

I'm actually getting it up to 400 now. Im considering just sitting sideways and not bothering with the hats. what do you guys think? Its seems pretty useless that the foot i never use for anything kinda rules at drums.

Twitch speed isn't coordination. Can you actually play anything with your left foot?

yeah of course, all the usual beats, with less effort too.

well im left footed and handed, and initially set my kit up left-handed (left foot on bass). I then changed my kit to right handed and played open handed (right foot on bass) and my right foot was naturally better than my left foot for some reason. Although I assumed that was because i had played piano for 10 years, which required a right foot pedal often. Or maybe I'm in a similar position to you. Who knows

have you set up your kit left handed, left footed and played open handed?

also i guess this means you have a double bass pedal? why not just use the left if you think its better

Maybe you should try playing bass with your left foot and hats with your right foot. I assume you play right hand hats and ride. You could leave your ride cymbal where it is and play open. That would be the mirror image of how I play.

Even if your left foot is weaker, strength doesn't matter for much. Technique and control are far more important.

after 10 years of struggling to learn to play the drums, my new teacher said he thought i might be left footed(i am right handed) so I changed my kit round and on the first day I was playing better with my left foot than with my right, the speed and technique are not quite as good yet, but the co-ordination was instantly bettter and at last I am starting to relax when i play.

I have a remote hat set behind the snare and the ride above that. Two toms to the right of the hat and a little one i rarely use to the left. So I can still play right handed. Why did nobody notice before?? no wonder I found it difficult. Mind you it is now a challange to play my hi-hats with my right foot, but it is coming along realy quickly.
