Hi all... I am about to change my old Mapex Venus ( I love her, but it is time to move on)
and I really like the sound of birch drums, such as many Yamaha and Mapex Mbirch....
I would like to know if Grestch has got any model wich could be compared to Mapex Mbirch, I could not find any.
What about Sonor? or other birch drums?
THANKS!!!!!

I don't know of any Grestch models that are made of birch, but I have heard that Sonor Birch kits are amazing. They are completely custom made (assuming you get the SQ2, although I believe that they may have another model that incorporates birch, but don't quote me) but are REALLY expensive.

You get what you paid for in quality though!

What about catalina ash?

Ash (and beech) wood sounds like a blend of maple and birch qualities.

2007 is their MID RANGE birch kit......

Check out the S-classix series. After SQ2s and Hilites, they are the best sounding drums I have ever heard.

Thank you everyone, a lot of information.
I will check around to see if some of the mentioned models are available here in Argentina.
Thanks!
