Hi

I have seen in some shops the kits called Mapex Saturn Fusion set. Is this the same kit as Mapex Saturn or are there any differences between the 2 mentioned sets? The price seems to be very afordable (around 1000€) and I read some reviews around the net that say that Saturn kits sound amazing. Any tips are welcome

I believe the "Fusion" tag simply means the shell-pack configuration being offered by Mapex. For example, a typical "fusion" or "fusionese" setup will have 8x10 and 9x12 toms with either a 20" or 22" bass drum and a 14" floor tom. The rock setups/shell packs usually have 22" or 24" bass drums and 16" floor toms.

"Fusion" does not designate a different type or kind of Saturn kit. The Saturn used to be called "Saturn Pro," so if you see that phrase on the shell badge, then you have an older Saturn kit on your hands.

Ok thanks all clear now. Do you think that Fusion sets are not ok for louder rock music? As I am aware Sratclassic performers are also 10,12,14 toms and work great for rock also.

Lar's Ulrich's current kit:

10/12/14/16.

Is metallica loud enough?

I Have a fusion ease (added 16 FT w a 22x18 BD) is great for all kinds of music, if u want something exclusively more rock oriented u can go w the Plus Bass Which I believe is a 22x20, 12x9, 16x16 w a 14x7 snare. But believe me a fusion would work great and the new SRO shell pack includes a 16x16 instead of a 14x14 FT. The set is great and for the value is a killer, look at videos on the webpage mapexdrums.com or just google mapex saturn on youtube
