Hey All,

I think I may need to part with my MCANs. It is a brand new 2005 Yamaha Absolute Maple Nouveau kit in Vintage Natural Satin Oil finish. Sizes: 16x20 bass, 14x14 floor (with legs), 8x12, 7.5x10, with TH-945 tri-mounting device.

I never gigged with this kit--it was solely my "home" kit which, sadly, I rarely got to play. It sounds fantastic, is in perfect, like-new condition, and I am the original owner. I take supreme care of my drums. I have to make room around my place, and this is the fellow that will have to go probably.

Again, here are the stats:

Condition: like brand new / only practiced on three or four times / kept with immaculate care in climate controlled environment at home
Sizes: 16x20 bass, 14x14 floor (with legs), 8x12, 7.5x10, light-weight aluminum die-cast hoops, with TH-945 tri-mounting device
Price: make me an offer (send me an e-mail via my Drummerworld profile, if seriously interested)

Please note that DW's private messaging function has been malfunctioning a lot lately, so use the e-mail option.

Here's a picture of the glorious 7.5x10 tom:

That's a nice kit. I have almost the same sizes in birch U sizes rather than J.
What are you making room for. Did you decide on a bop kit?

Wayne: Well, I'm leaning towards a Yamaha Recording Custom, but I'm still slightly undecided. Thanks for the compliment on my MCANs. I love this kit--the sound and craftsmanship are great--but space and time are tight, and the wife is pushing me to let this kit go. I had a DW kit years ago that was my gigging kit, and as a result this beauty never really got any attention/playing time.

Robert,

Sorry to hijack your ad but PM isn't working. I'll delete these comments after you have read them if you'd like:

Have you thought about getting a 18" bass drum for this kit rather than buying a whole new kit? I play jazz and would rather play on a MCA than a recording custom. The recording custom is dryer sounding. The MCA is more versatile and resonant.

Wayne: Yes, I have thought of that, and it is a good point (that I still roll around in my head from time to time). Thing is, I'm rather picky about the nouveau lugs. The lugs, in my experience, work perfectly fine, and I have never heard of nouveau lug problems on Absolute series kits, but I'm just too old-school of a drummer to adjust to the idea of pop-off lugs. I know it doesn't make rational sense, really, but I'm used to traditional, stationary lugs. I guess you could say it is a picky technical/aesthetic preference.

So, given that, it would make sense for a player out there who loves the kit to have it and give it the attention it deserves. However, if no one wants it, it is no loss--I can always return to thinking about getting the 18" bass addition.
